Job summary

Regal Rexnord’s Florence, KY site seeks a Manufacturing Engineer II to improve processes for our coupling business. You will work with design, sourcing, quality, and vendors to implement high-mix, low-volume improvements and line balancing.

The role emphasizes tooling, CNC programs, material flow, and standard work while driving continuous improvement and CI events with a cross-functional team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field; advanced degree preferred; 3+ years in industrial manufacturing accepted in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years’ related work in machining/assembly with high mix, low volume.
  • Ability to read/interpret technical drawings and specs.
  • Experience with CAD tools (SolidWorks/AutoCAD).
  • Experience coordinating activities in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes through R&D programs, tooling, and inspection.
  • Lead standardization and complexity reduction initiatives.
  • Design processes/equipment for mixed-model lines with emphasis on line balancing.
  • Develop tooling, CNC programs, material flow, and assembly processes for one-piece flow.
  • Lead/carticipate in Material Cost Out (MCO) and Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) projects.
  • Support SMED and OEE improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to NPD design reviews and product transfers.
  • Align with SQDCG goals and Regal Business System principles.

Job description

Position Overview

Regal Rexnord's Florence, KY facility is part of the Industrial Powertrain Solution segment. The site manufactures highly engineered power transmission products that support critical industrial applications across a wide range of industries. The site focuses on operational excellence, lean manufacturing, quality, and continuous improvement to deliver high-performance couplings.

We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer II to develop and improve various manufacturing processes for our Coupling business. Process improvement will be based on product design & latest machining technologies, working closely with product design engineers, sourcing, quality, vendors, subcontractors and machine manufacturers. The ideal candidate is someone with experience in high mix, low volume manufacturing with a strong customer focused approach.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate & develop manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, machining, assembly, material flow, tooling, and inspection; working with internal cross-functional team & equipment vendors; soliciting inputs from operators.
  • Lead & Support standardization and complexity reduction.
  • Develop and design of processes and equipment for mixed models in a high mix low volume environment with a focus on line balancing and mixed model sequencing
  • Development of tooling, CNC programs, material flow & presentation, assembly processes, standard work, and line balancing, to establish one piece flow on mixed product lines.
  • Lead/support Material Cost Out (MCO) and Variable Cost Productivity (VCP) projects.
  • Work with SMED & projects addressing OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness)
  • Participate and provide inputs in design reviews of New Product Development (NPD)
  • Support product and manufacturing transfers and restructuring projects.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application Kaizen, 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, Line Balancing, Gemba and Structured Problem Solving in line with Regal Business System.
  • Lead/support Continuous Improvement (CI) projects and Kaizen events.
  • Work with a cross-functional & leadership team towards achieving business objectives & financial targets by addressing/improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Growth (SQDCG).
  • Follow Regal Rexnord Ethics and Safety Programs
  • Follow Environmental Compliance Programs
  • Adhere to all export, import and supply chain security policy requirements relevant to the position.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by manager
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or technical field, and advanced degree is preferred. A two-year engineering or technical degree and 3+ years of relevant and demonstrated work experience will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years' related work experience in an industrial/manufacturing company, preferably in machining and assembly industry with high mix and low volume
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • CAD experience (SolidWorks and AutoCAD preferred)
  • Ability to coordinate activities and influence others in a cross-functional environment
  • Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Hands on oriented, being where the work is
  • Undertake work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Customer focus
  • Proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good project management
  • Experience with Oracle or equivalent ERP system
  • Lean or Lean, Six Sigma Certification Preferred (Yellow, Green, or Black Belt)
  • Material flow, lineside presentation, & logistics skills a plus
  • Industrial painting experience a plus
