Job summary

Vaupell is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, integrate, and improve manufacturing systems, including injection molding automation and assembly automation. You will work on cost reduction programs, participate in design reviews, and develop SOPs for new equipment, while collaborating with cross-functional teams on manufacturability and process capabilities.

Qualifications

  • Requires 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Requires a Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.
  • Knowledge of injection molding automation and assembly automation systems design and construction.

Responsibilities

  • Study, analyze and design methods, procedures, processes, layouts, fixtures and tooling as relevant to meet job objectives.
  • Identify and recommend resolutions for existing or imminent manufacturing problems, equipment failures or safety issues.
  • Investigate, prepare and recommend manufacturing cost reduction and product improvement programs.
  • Participate in the review and evaluation of product design changes.
  • Coordinate with support groups to ensure manufacturability, process capabilities and capacities are developed to support new products.
  • Develop, monitor and report on project schedules and establish Standard Operating Procedures for new and updated manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Working as part of cross functional teams, sustain current production by providing support for quality issues, production equipment problems and part documentation errors by determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
  • May develop manufacturing operating instructions or procedures and may train assemblers and operators in machine operations, processes or assembly applications.
  • Coordinate with vendors, customers and other departments during the course of completing assignments.

Required Experience

Requires 3 to 5 years experience in Manufacturing Engineering or related technical discipline.

Education/Training

Requires a Bachelors degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience.

Skills And Knowledge Requirements
  • Requires experience and knowledge of injection molding automation and assembly automation systems design and construction.
  • Requires knowledge of industrial controls electronics, PLC and robotic programming, design and troubleshooting.
  • Requires knowledge of manufacturing methods, techniques, equipment and processes
  • Requires knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and other techniques
  • Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans blueprints, drawings and models
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English adequately to understand and develop work instructions
  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools is required
  • CAD proficiency/design background is a plus
Physical Requirements
  • This position requires hands-on work on the manufacturing floor
  • Extended periods of standing and/or walking, moderate lifting, and reasonable mobility are required
  • Must be able to handle and manipulate a variety of hand tools and parts
