Who We Are

Textron Systems is part of Textron, a $14 billion, multi-industry company employing 35,000 talented makers, thinkers, creators, and doers worldwide. We make things that fly, hover, zoom, and launch—things that move people, protect soldiers, and power industries. We serve customers across aerospace and defense, specialized vehicles, turf care, and fuel systems.

About This Role

Textron Systems is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer to focus on electronics/electrical manufacturing, assembly, and testing of products throughout the product life cycle. As part of our dedicated ISC team, the Manufacturing Process Engineer's primary responsibilities include developing repeatable and reproducible assembly, inspection, and test instructions, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing changes. Responsibilities will also encompass upstream activities such as capital equipment, facility requirements, emerging manufacturing technologies, tool design, cost estimating, and configuration control. This individual will collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, and Assembly Technicians to complete builds, analyze results, and drive continuous improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with Design Engineering, Assembly Technicians, and other Manufacturing Engineers to ensure clear communication between design and manufacturing.
  2. Perform make/buy analyses for new designs by reviewing drawings, sketches, and schematics.
  3. Determine necessary capital equipment, facility needs, manufacturing technologies, and other requirements for emerging programs.
  4. Develop manufacturing processes, procedures, tool designs, production layouts, cost estimates, and configuration control methods for efficient manufacturing of new products.
  5. Identify emerging manufacturing technologies and perform cost/benefit analyses for their implementation.
  6. Develop factory floor plans and equipment arrangements to ensure efficient and productive workflows.
  7. Create detailed manufacturing process documents, providing technical expertise and promoting best practices.
  8. Develop detailed production plans to support new products.
  9. Provide technical support to internal and external suppliers via in-person and phone interactions.
  10. Maintain a positive attitude when interacting with a diverse, multi-functional workforce.
  11. Apply lean manufacturing principles and practices effectively.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electrical/electronic/RF fields.
  • Experience with materials, manufacturing methods, and equipment, especially in assembling, troubleshooting, repairing electronic systems, circuits, test equipment, and cables/harnesses (Certified soldering to IPC-610 Class III, Harnessing to IPC-620 Class III, troubleshooting digital, analog, and RF electronics).
  • Knowledge of electronics, electrical, RF, mechanical design, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Understanding of DFX principles, including Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Cost.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and tolerances in a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Awareness of existing manufacturing technologies and ability to research emerging ones.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOMs, sketches, CAD models, prototypes, and specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills to detect and resolve potential design issues, applying logical and scientific solutions.
  • Ability to visualize manufacturing environments and understand factor interactions affecting design.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to justify and present analytical results effectively.

Additional skills include basic computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook), manufacturing-specific software (ERP/MRP, PLM, MES), CAD software (UG NX 10+), and eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Electrical, RF, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
