Job description

SARGENT AEROSPACE & DEFENSE

With continual growth comes opportunity and Sargent has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Engineer MEI to join our Marine Hydraulics team.

Responsibilities

  1. Model safe behavior at all times
  2. Promote a culture of Continual Improvement by utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive quality improvements, reduce manufacturing cost, minimize waste and improve efficiency
  3. Supports the ME team at all levels & operations with required technical and general support
  4. Interpret and maintain manufacturing process documentation (i.e. routers, RWPs)
  5. Evaluate and disposition non-conforming product
  6. Provide technical data for front end business activities
  7. Evaluate supplier issues and provide technical guidance
  8. Perform Engineering analysis to determine Root Cause and implement Corrective Actions
  9. Identify new technologies to improve process capability, and increase process controls
  10. Review engineering designs and documentation for manufacturability
  11. Define manufacturing processes and maintain detailed manufacturing instructions for complex manufacturing product
  12. Design tooling & fixtures for manufacturing and validation of product
  13. Coordinate the acquisition and implementation of capital equipment/expenditures
  14. Implement process documentation and provide training for production personnel
  15. Actively participate in the engineering change process
  16. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 1 year as a Manufacturing Engineer OR a Master's degree in Engineering OR an Associate degree in Engineering or related technical field plus 3 years of manufacturing engineering related experience OR In Lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of manufacturing engineering related experience and High School diploma/GED
  2. Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, procedures and ensure blue print compliance
  3. Basic knowledge of GD&T, schematics and relevant test and inspection equipment
  4. Basic knowledge of solid modeling
  5. Basic knowledge and utilization of Lean and Six Sigma Principles
  6. Demonstrated and documented cost savings projects - annual savings 25k
  7. Demonstrated hands on abilities through employment or personal projects
  8. Attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of this position
  9. Must be a U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  1. (2) years of experience in mechanical and/or hydraulic systems
  2. Experience in a Manufacturing Aerospace, Defense or other regulated industry
  3. Experience in the implementation/utilization of Lean and Six Sigma Principles
  4. Lean/six sigma (yellow) belt certification
