Job summary

Nordson EFD, a global leader in fluid dispensing, seeks an experienced engineer to coordinate and perform activities ensuring injection molded components or system assemblies function and manufacturability after a product launch.

You will redesign components, perform root-cause analysis, and provide engineering leadership to address quality in manufacturing while maintaining existing designs for production.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Engineering degree required, plastics and/or mechanical preferred.
  • Three to ten years experience in production support/product design role primarily with injection molded parts.
  • Must be fluent in 3D Modeling of parts and assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Redesign/modify components and systems to ensure long-term manufacturing reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution of customer complaints requiring engineering support.
  • Provide engineering support and leadership to address product quality issues in the manufacturing process.
  • Maintain/improve existing product designs in support of Manufacturing activities.
  • Coordinate with internal tooling engineers to enable production-scale manufacturing.
  • Create/modify BOMs and Engineering Masters for production.
  • Develop QC inspection procedures and fixtures as needed.

Job Summary

Coordinate and/or perform activities relating to ensuring injection molded components or system assembly functionality and manufacturability after a product’s release to market.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Redesign/modify components/systems as required to ensure long-term manufacturing reliability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution of customer complaints where engineering support is required.
  • Provide Engineering support and leadership to address product quality issues in the manufacturing process
  • Maintain/improve existing product designs in support of Manufacturing activities.
  • Coordinates activities with internal tooling engineers to create/ensure the ability to manufacture products on a production scale.
  • Coordinates activities within the Manufacturing department to ensure product/ samples are produced that meet the component/assembly specifications.
  • Creates/modifies BOM’s/Engineering Masters required for production of product.
  • Creates/modifies QC Inspection Procedure work instructions used to monitor component and assembly quality during manufacturing.
  • This includes designing any tests and fixtures required for this purpose.
  • Maintains and improves existing product designs.
  • Ensures that engineering documentation is appropriately maintained and controlled according to ISO practices
  • Any other duties/tasks as requested by Manager.
  • Practice good housekeeping and appropriate measures to prevent pollution or other negative impacts on the environment
Minimum Requirements
  • Undergraduate Engineering degree required, preferably Plastics and/or Mechanical.
  • Three to ten years experience in production support/product design role primarily with injection molded parts and assemblies.
  • Must be fluent in 3D Modeling of parts and assemblies.
Preferred Requirements
  • Knowledge of injection molding process and tool design as it relates to part design for manufacturability preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively under deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and concepts to top management and to implement ideas that improve the process.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment requiring sitting, standing, reaching.
  • Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
