Job summary

Overview

Airbus US Manufacturing Facility is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer I to join the A320 Engineering Department based in Mobile, AL.

Responsibilities
  • Primary Responsibilities: Handle Non-Conformities (50%) - Create specific work orders for FAL rework (Cabin, Systems, Electrics, or Structures by Station), establish/verify the technical content of non-conformities, and validate in documentation. Provide technical support to production on all issues including oversight of directed changes. Incorporate implicit knowledge into work instructions and refine them for clarity, detail, and regulatory assignment to ensure accurate aircraft build information. Initiate availability of replacement parts, jigs, and tools required for work.
  • Continuous Improvement (50%) - Manage continuous improvement measures with recurring non-conformities in cooperation with quality. Participate as an active team member to support ME activities in the FAL.
  • Additional Responsibilities - Support routing verification process (RVP) for new or updated processes; participate in training plans and orient new colleagues; take on additional projects as assigned; perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 0-3 years in Aerospace, preferably in an Aerospace Final Assembly Line; travel required approximately 5% domestically and internationally.
  • Knowledge and skills: Principles and tools of manufacturing engineering; supply chain and quality system management; non-conformities and design query notes. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; Google Suite. Preferred: Airbus mechanical processes, Airbus IT-tools (Zamiz, TAKSY, DocMaster, ECM), SAP/R3 (PP/PM), aircraft structure installation, health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Soft skills: Ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal customers; ability to work in an international team; excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present concise briefings and reports to customers and executives.
  • Language: Fluency in German or French (preferred).
Working Environment and Travel
  • Onsite position with 100% onsite work requirement.
  • Ability to work 1st, 2nd, and potentially 3rd shift schedules; ability to travel internationally on short notice as required.
  • Physical requirements: ability to see, hear, speak, and operate office and production equipment; lift up to 30 lbs; ability to stand, sit, squat, kneel, walk, and use PPE (safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, respirators/masks, gloves) as required.
