Job summary

Ellwood National Forge Company in Irvine, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I (salary exempt) to develop manufacturing processes, standardize work instructions, and lead process improvements across the Irvine plant and other sites as needed.

The role emphasizes LEAN implementations, tooling and fixturing, design reviews, and collaboration with sales on quotes for machining hours and tooling costs. Bachelor's in manufacturing engineering preferred; 2–5 years' experience; SolidWorks/NX skills.

Qualifications

  • Four-year BS Degree in a related engineering discipline (preferred Mechanical or Industrial Engineering)
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong PC skills
  • Proficient with SolidWorks modeling software and/or NX
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Must be results-oriented with a strong desire to succeed and be self-driven
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing process development and improvements
  • Standardizing work instructions and detailed control plans for semi-finished and finished parts
  • Manufacturing evaluation and optimization (manufacturing flow, routings, coordination with tooling and programming)
  • LEAN coordination and implementation throughout the facility, focusing on set-up reduction, tooling and fixturing
  • Gage identification, procurement, design and implementation
  • Facilitate the manufacturing design process, including design review and route review meetings
  • Lead the contract review process for new item assessment and processing
  • Work with sales to quote machining hours and tooling costs
  • Other duties to support business needs

Job description

There is an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer I (salary exempt position) based at the ENF Irvine Plant; from time to time you may be assigned to the Corry/Warren Plants.

Responsibilities
  • Manufacturing process development and improvements
  • Standardizing work instructions and detailed control plans for semi‑finished and finished parts
  • Manufacturing Evaluation and Optimization (Manufacturing Flow, Routings, Coordination with Tooling and Programming)
  • LEAN coordination and implementation throughout the facility, focusing on set‑up reduction, tooling and fixturing
  • Gage identification, procurement, design and implementation
  • Facilitate the manufacturing design process, including design review and route review meetings
  • Lead the contract review process for new item assessment and processing
  • Work with sales to quote machining hours and tooling costs
  • As well as any other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time to support the business needs

Regular attendance as scheduled is an essential function.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Four‑year BS Degree in a related engineering discipline (preferred Mechanical or Industrial Engineering)
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Strong personal computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficient with Solid Works modeling software and/or NX
  • Excellent problem‑solving and organizational skills
  • Must be results‑oriented with a strong desire to succeed and be self‑driven
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Machining or machine tools
  • Manufacturing planning
  • Metallurgy, including heat treatment and mechanical requirements
  • TOC Manufacturing concepts
  • Tooling experience
