Job summary

The Modal Shop – An Amphenol Company in Cincinnati, OH seeks a Manufacturing Engineer I to drive new product launches into production and to improve manufacturing processes. You will work with engineering, supply chain, operations, sales and quality to implement robust, repeatable processes and test methods.

Key responsibilities include interpreting drawings, creating work instructions, developing tools and fixtures, and performing failure analyses to enhance manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Internship, Co-Op or equivalent industry experience. Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Travel up to 5% to visit customers, vendors, suppliers or attend technical meetings and conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets mechanical drawings, schematics and technical specifications to develop manufacturing work instructions, processes, routers, procedures and test protocols.
  • Conducts prototype manufacturing builds to test and evaluate product and process designs and revisions.
  • Works in close collaboration with other engineering teams, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales and Quality in the launch of new products and the manufacturing support of existing products.
  • Develops and designs basic tools and fixtures, researches and specifies manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Creates and maintains accurate mechanical drawings, schematics, technical specifications and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Provides documentation on assembly methods and test procedures.
  • Conducts failure analyses to resolve manufacturability or quality issues.
  • Provides technical assistance in matters of products, materials, equipment and processes.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements related for design for manufacturability and product assembly.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: Internship, Co-Op or equivalent industry experience. Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Travel Requirement: May travel up to 5% to visit customers, vendors, suppliers, other company locations, affiliates, attend technical meetings, trade shows or conferences.
