Job summary

Kearfott Corporation is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I to support the design, development, manufacturing and testing of precision motion control products and inertial navigation components.

The role emphasizes applying engineering principles across mechanics, electronics, flight technology, and structures, with responsibilities including creating work instructions, leading production hardware, troubleshooting non-conforming hardware, and driving lean process improvements to enable robust

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or related field.
  • 2 years aerospace manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with various test and measurement equipment (e.g. voltmeter, oscilloscope, calipers, micrometers).
  • Mechatronics/Electro-Mechanical background preferred.
  • Manufacturing/assembly experience preferred.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Responsible for creating product work instructions and being the technical lead for production hardware.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, dispositioning non-conforming hardware, and providing root cause & corrective action.
  • Continuously strives to improve processes & techniques and analyzes workflow, space requirements & equipment layout to optimize production with a lean manufacturing mindset.
  • Support prototyping phase and launch of new products by developing and validating manufacturing processes.
  • May conduct or participate in portions of studies, investigations or analyses involving reliability, predictability, value and quality assurance issues.
  • Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and other related documents

Position Description

The Manufacturing Engineer I performs various professional level engineering duties in a variety of engineering and scientific disciplines. There is an emphasis on supporting the company's products and processes related to system/component design, development, manufacturing and testing.

Responsibilities
  • Applies engineering and scientific principles in such technical fields as mechanics, electronics, flight technology, structures, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, and computer science
  • Responsible for creating product work instructions and being the technical lead for production hardware
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, dispositioning non-conforming hardware, and providing root cause & corrective action
  • Continuously strives to improve processes & techniques and analyzes workflow, space requirements & equipment layout to optimize production with a lean manufacturing mindset.

Critical Competencies
  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, across functional areas
  • Possesses advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Drives for results to establish Root Cause & Positive Corrective Actions
  • Experience with CAD software for 3D models and 2D drawings (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Drives for results, action oriented, strong initiative
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Quantitative analysis skills using Excel and other software tools
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering or related field required
  • 2 years experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with various test and measurement equipment (e.g. voltmeter, oscilloscope, calipers, micrometers)
