BAE Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering I (Fabrication) for 3rd shift. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems (CMS) Business at our York, PA facility. This role involves supporting production, business, and other processes in a team-based manufacturing environment. The selected candidate will spend up to 90% of their time on shop floor resolving manufacturing issues and providing technical support. The role also includes activities in production planning, systems, manufacturing operations, equipment engineering, material management, and process re-engineering, with interaction with internal and external customers for product planning, problem resolution, and process improvement.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide engineering support for welding fabrication processes in manufacturing combat products.
  2. Apply basic knowledge of product design and technology to solve engineering problems, selecting optimal methods or processes.
  3. Analyze design specifications, drawings, and test results to ensure compliance with standards and requirements, developing concepts and design change recommendations.
  4. Support weld repairs, recommend process improvements, and develop welding standards and documentation.
  5. Investigate root causes of fabrication issues and apply knowledge of metallurgy and weldability.
  6. Develop technical documentation, contribute to technical papers and presentations, and deliver technical presentations as needed.
  7. Apply lean and Six Sigma principles to improve production processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a technical discipline related to welding engineering or technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications, CAD, and model manipulation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in weld engineering and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience interfacing with customers and working on the shop floor.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with military and commercial weld standards.
  • Certification as AWS CWI or similar is a plus.
  • Knowledge of inspection processes, lean/Six Sigma, drilling/machining operations, and weld engineering practices.
  • Hands-on experience supporting shop floor activities and root cause analysis.

Salary Range: $54,500 - $92,700, based on market and candidate qualifications.
