Job summary

Gorbel is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer Co-Op in Victor, NY. You will work with the Manufacturing Engineer to develop, evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures and production aids while gaining exposure to Lean manufacturing and quality control standards.

Ideal candidates are engineering or engineering technology students with strong analytical and communication skills, knowledge of CAD software, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Enrollment as Engineering or Engineering Technology student.
• Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent command of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CAD (SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD) and other programs.
• Ability to independently move about factory and lift up to 50 pounds.

• Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
• Develop and implement recommendations for tool redesign changes of materials, methods, etc.

• Facilitate Lean Manufacturing initiatives in all facilities; participate in continuous improvement projects.

Utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts and fabrication processes, design, document and create production aids, jigs and fixtures. Gain knowledge of tooling and production equipment and their capabilities, then assist with maintenance, upgrades or replacement needs. Develop familiarity with assembly methods, lean manufacturing and quality control standards to assist with improvements in assembly areas.
