Job summary

General Dynamics Land Systems is seeking an entry-level Tool Engineer at the Joint Systems Manufacturing Center. You will interpret drawings and 3D models, develop processes for production operators, and create fixturing to support machining of tracked and wheeled military vehicle components.

Qualifications

• BS Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred; related technical degrees considered.
• Experience with CADCAM and 3D modeling software is expected; MasterCam & Creo are a plus.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and 3D models for manufacturability.
• Develop processes and instructions to production operators.
• Concept and detail fixturing and tool aids to support production processes.
• Understand electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic requirements related to machines and fixturing.
• Develop CNC programs for plate processing, 3-axis mills, or 5 axis mills.
• Procure needed tooling and equipment to support machining processes.
• Provide assistance on cost estimating for future programs and tasks.
• Provide technical support and training to manufacturing operations personnel at JSMC.
• Implement PSCA and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical interface with on-site customer (US Government).
• Involvement in and support of the formalized teaming process.
