Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria, IL, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Programmer to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency across complex manufacturing operations. You will evaluate equipment, develop CNC programs, and drive improvements with lean methods and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities include creating tooling and process documentation, leading root-cause analysis, and managing projects from planning to execution, with travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing Engineering knowledge and ability to support design, installation, maintenance or improvement of production processes.
• Ability to create, evaluate and optimize manufacturing processes and CNC programs, including process controls and standards.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking to define problems, assess risks and recommend solutions.
• Lean manufacturing principles, waste reduction, and production-performance focus.
• Project management skills for contributing to plans, estimates, coordination and reporting.
• Education or equivalent experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize and sustain safe, efficient manufacturing and tooling processes for machining complex components in heavy equipment production.
• Create, validate and maintain CNC programs for multi-axis machining and turning centers, with process prove-out and production support.
• Design and specify tooling, fixtures, workholding, jigs, and setup requirements to improve quality, safety and productivity.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation including operation specs, work instructions, setup drawings and cycle-time analyses.
• Lead root cause analysis, troubleshooting and continuous improvement addressing safety, quality, throughput, cost and bottlenecks.
• Evaluate and support manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation and advanced technologies.
• Manage technical projects involving new equipment, tooling, software, facility enhancements and process development.
