Job summary

Moog in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer to help transition operations into our AIM facility, developing advanced aerospace components.

You will create CNC programs, optimize milling and secondary processes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability and efficiency. The role requires hands-on setup, problem solving on the shop floor, and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, or an Associate degree with 6+ years, or 8+ years proven experience.
  • Proficiency in CNC Mill Machining.
  • 3+ years experience CNC programming using CAD/CAM software.
  • Hands-on experience with machine setup and operation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize CNC Mill and secondary machining processes for new and legacy components.
  • Create detailed CNC programs and manufacturing instructions meeting engineering specs.
  • Define operation sequences, tooling, gauging, and machine requirements for precision parts.
  • Troubleshoot shop floor issues including tooling, gauging, workholding, and inspection.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer

Reporting To: Leader, Mfg. Engineering Tech.

Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY

Our Military Aircraft Group is seeking aManufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmerto join our Prismatic Manufacturing Group where you’ll play a critical role in transitioning operations into our next-generation Advanced Integrated Manufacturing (AIM) facility. This is your opportunity to join a high-impact team where innovation meets precision, and your expertise drives the development of cutting-edge aerospace components.

As a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer, you’ll be at the forefront of bothnew product developmentandcontinuous improvementof existing manufacturing processes. You’ll work hands-on with milled parts, applying advanced CNC programming and machining knowledge to solve challenges and optimize performance for both primary milling and secondary operations.

To be considered for Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer, here’s what you’ll typically bring:
  • ABachelor’s degreein a technical field withthree (3) or more yearsof relevant professional experience, or anAssociate degreewithsix (6) or more yearsof relevant professional experience, or eight (8) or more yearsof proven professional experience
  • Proficiency in CNC Mill Machining
  • Three (3) or more years experience CNC Programming using CAD/CAM software
  • Hands-on experience withmachine setup and operation
It’s preferred if you bring:
  • A degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • Background in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with machine automation integration
  • Skills in inspection of machined parts
  • Hands-on experience machining stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum
  • Proficiency in CNC Programming using Siemens NX
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles; Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus
As a Manufacturing Engineer/CNC Programmer, you will:
  • Develop and optimize CNC Mill and secondary machining processes for both new and legacy components
  • Create detailed CNC programs and manufacturing instructions that meet rigorous engineering specifications
  • Define operation sequences, tooling, gauging, and machine requirements for precision part fabrication
  • Troubleshoot shop floor issues, including tooling, gauging, workholding, and inspection challenges
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve manufacturing problems and enhance producibility
  • Create detailed operation sheets and NC programs to produce high-precision machined parts and sub-assemblies
  • Review engineering drawings for manufacturability and recommend design improvements
  • Assist in the creation of machine-ready code and be hands-on in the production environment, assisting with program prove-outs and troubleshooting
  • Estimate setup/run times and tooling hours; contribute to cost estimation for new business proposals
  • Mentor junior engineers and lead continuous improvement initiatives in processes and equipment

  • Salary Range Transparency: Buffalo, NY $80,000.00–$120,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
