Job description

Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Work Arrangement: On-Site
About the Opportunity

MOHR Talent is conducting a confidential search on behalf of an established industrial manufacturing organization seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to lead technical process improvements, strengthen manufacturing consistency, and support CNC/CAM engineering initiatives.

Our client is looking for a hands‑on, analytically driven engineer who can evaluate manufacturing processes, identify root causes of production challenges, and implement sustainable improvements that deliver measurable results.

This is not primarily a production planning, scheduling, or shop supervisory position. The successful candidate will bring strong manufacturing engineering expertise, structured problem‑solving capabilities, and the ability to independently develop, analyze, and improve manufacturing processes.

The role offers an opportunity to modernise established manufacturing operations, develop standardised procedures, and support the implementation of new CNC equipment.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Engineering & Process Improvement

  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, quality concerns, process variation, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead structured root cause investigations into recurring production problems, defects, and manufacturing inconsistencies.
  • Apply data‑driven problem‑solving techniques to develop corrective actions and sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Evaluate manufacturing performance through cycle times, scrap rates, quality metrics, throughput, and process observations.
  • Develop and implement engineering improvements focused on quality, productivity, cost reduction, and process reliability.
  • Establish standardised manufacturing methods and process controls to improve consistency and reduce variation.
  • Validate process changes and measure their effectiveness through manufacturing data and performance results.
  • Partner with Quality and Production teams on corrective and preventive action initiatives.

CNC/CAM Programming & Manufacturing Support

  • Develop, modify, verify, and maintain CAM programmes for CNC machining operations.
  • Translate 3D models and engineering drawings into CNC machining programmes.
  • Support CNC programme setup, prove‑out, validation, and implementation.
  • Troubleshoot machining challenges involving tooling, fixturing, tolerances, and process performance.
  • Support the introduction of new CNC equipment, including programme development and production readiness.
  • Collaborate directly with machinists and production personnel to resolve technical manufacturing issues.
  • Maintain CNC programme revisions, setup documentation, and manufacturing configuration controls.

Process Development & Manufacturing Modernisation

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes, including operations with limited or outdated documentation.
  • Work directly with experienced technicians and operators to understand current production methods and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing work instructions, set‑up procedures, process sheets, and standard operating procedures.
  • Create process maps, control plans, and standardised manufacturing documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to modernise established manufacturing practices and improve process repeatability.
  • Support improvements across machining and moulding operations.
  • Assist with the introduction of new tooling, fixtures, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Collaborate across Engineering, Quality, and Production to implement process improvements.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands‑on Manufacturing Engineering experience in an industrial production environment.
  • Demonstrated experience independently analysing manufacturing problems and implementing engineering‑driven process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of structured root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using manufacturing data to evaluate process performance and drive measurable improvements.
  • Hands‑on CNC machining and CAM programming experience, including programme development, modification, and validation.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software, including SolidWorks CAM, Fusion, Mastercam, or comparable platforms.
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, fixturing, and GD&T.
  • Experience developing manufacturing processes, work instructions, and standardised operating procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical manufacturing challenges and work directly with machinists and production personnel.
  • Strong analytical thinking, technical documentation, and independent problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or formal continuous improvement training.
  • Experience with multi‑axis CNC machining, including 3‑axis and 4‑axis operations.
  • Experience introducing new CNC equipment and developing programmes from initial set‑up through production.
  • Background in industrial equipment, precision machining, pumps, rotating equipment, plastics, or composite manufacturing.
  • Experience modernising legacy manufacturing processes with limited existing documentation.
  • Familiarity with resin transfer moulding, fibreglass‑reinforced materials, or related manufacturing processes.
What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a manufacturing engineer who can demonstrate:

Analytical Problem Solving: Experience investigating complex manufacturing problems, analysing production data, identifying root causes, and implementing effective corrective actions.

Measurable Process Improvements: A track record of reducing scrap, improving quality, optimising cycle times, increasing productivity, or improving manufacturing consistency.

Hands‑on CNC/CAM Expertise: The ability to independently develop and validate CNC programmes and work directly with machining operations.

Process Development & Standardisation: Experience transforming inconsistent or undocumented manufacturing processes into clear, repeatable, and controlled operations.

Technical Ownership: Someone who takes responsibility for engineering solutions from initial investigation through implementation and validation.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within an established manufacturing organisation focused on process improvement and modernisation.

You’ll work closely with experienced manufacturing professionals, take ownership of technical engineering challenges, support new CNC equipment implementation, and help build stronger, more consistent manufacturing processes.

This opportunity is particularly well suited for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer who enjoys combining analytical problem solving, hands‑on technical engineering, and continuous process improvement.
