Job Description
As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, General Assembly/DFM, you will be involved in the complete product and process lifecycle, end to end. You will take products from concept to large-scale manufacturing. You will closely work with design engineering to develop manufacturing equipment, conveyors, tools, and fixtures required for full production while considering DFM concepts.
You Will:
- Interface with design engineering to review product designs for manufacturing feasibility in general assembly.
- Provide detailed assessments and critical Design for Manufacture (DFM) reviews of product, process, and tooling designs.
- Take products from concept to design, prototype, and manufacturing.
- Translate high-level assembly goals & strategy into actionable design change requests.
- Develop and implement dimensional control strategies.
- Conduct virtual build events to review assembly processes and requirements.
- Develop process documentation and complete PFMEAs and Quality Control Plans.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and error-proofing strategies, validate load paths, tool access, and ergonomics.
- Provide GA impact/cost studies for design changes or unique design directions, including make vs. buy studies.
- Assess in-house manufacturing capabilities and implement new processes or equipment to expand capabilities where justified.
- Implement and expand concepts like Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen to reduce costs and increase quality and throughput.
- Collaborate with all engineering levels in new idea development, review current documentation, and implement changes as needed.
- Provide leadership to cross-functional teams and manufacturing engineers regarding processes and capabilities.
- Work with design and quality teams on PFMEA creation and maintenance.
- Mentor and review the work of other manufacturing engineers to improve team skills.
- Communicate manufacturing decisions and fundamental reasons to the executive team when required.
You Bring:
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD Degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in developing and launching complex assembly processes.
- 5+ years of Tier 1 or OEM experience.
- Proficiency in creating manufacturing process documentation, both written and pictorial.
- Ability to work independently from prototype to sustaining activities.
- Capability to manage pressure, deadlines, and competing demands.

- Ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives in complex environments.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills.

- Willingness to travel up to 40% (US and international).
- Mastery of Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency with CATIA, 3DX.
