Role Description

The Manufacturing Engineer 5Axis Programmer is a full-time, on-site role based in Mooresville, NC. This role is responsible for developing, programming, and optimizing 4- and 5-axis CNC machining processes, including toolpath creation, fixture design, and setup documentation for prototype and production runs. Daily activities include reviewing engineering drawings and models, selecting tooling and cutting parameters, troubleshooting machining issues, and collaborating with machinists to ensure parts meet quality, cost, and delivery targets. The position also involves continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, implementation of best practices for machining exotic alloys and tubular extrusion products, and support of “just in time” production scheduling. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain safety, efficiency, and compliance with company and industry standards.

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, additive/subtractive techniques, and process optimization.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering, with a focus on production planning, workflow improvement, and quality-oriented process development.
  • Background in industrial engineering, such as layout planning, efficiency analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Mechanical engineering skills related to interpreting CAD models and drawings, designing fixtures, and understanding material properties.
  • Hands-on machining expertise, particularly in 4- and 5-axis programming, tooling selection, and setup for complex aerospace components.
  • Proficiency with CAM software for multi-axis CNC programming and familiarity with CAD tools used in part and fixture design.
  • Ability to read and apply GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and aerospace manufacturing standards.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with machinists, engineers, and production staff on-site.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
