Job summary

Parker Hannifin in Kent, WA, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer 2 in Aerospace to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and equipment, supporting Parker products from start-up to production.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate cross-functional capital projects.
  • Experience with continuous improvement in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and reading engineering drawings.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and support manufacturing tooling, fixtures, gauges, and work holding solutions.
  • Plan and design basic manufacturing processes to meet specs.
  • Lead process improvement projects focusing on efficiency, yield, safety, and cost.
  • Provide guidance to engineering leadership on design and process choices.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for complex processes.
  • Investigate and address product quality issues.
  • Lead capital equipment projects end-to-end with cross-functional teams.

MANUFACTURING ENGINEER 2 (AEROSPACE)
Summary:

Under limited/minimal supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer 2 is an experienced role that is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment typically in a single manufacturing facility. Supports the manufacture and assembly of new and existing Parker products. Identifies improved manufacturing techniques for testing new systems and methods for efficiency, and planning assembly layouts to optimize production, quality, cost, and safety. Will also be responsible for developing and deploying capital projects.

Essential Functions:
  • Design and support manufacturing tooling, fixtures, gauges, and work holding solutions to improve safety, quality, productivity, and process repeatability.
  • Manufacturing Process Flow - Plans and designs basic manufacturing processes to improve the manufacture and assembly of new and existing products. Determines equipment and tooling needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product and quality specifications.
  • Process Improvement - Develops and implements process improvement projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost. May lead small teams in developing and implementing process improvement efforts.
  • Engineering Design Support - Provides guidance to engineering leadership regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensures more complex processes and procedures comply with regulations. Applies frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Remediation - Investigates and suggests corrective action to ensure product quality, and to resolve quality issues.
  • Leads capital equipment and process improvement projects end-to-end-managing scope, schedule/milestones, budget/CapEx tracking, and cross-functional coordination through installation, start-up, and closure while escalating risks/issues as needed.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Education requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field
  • Years of experience: 2-5 years of experience
  • Proficient/Working knowledge and ability to apply concepts of engineering for one solution line
  • Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of moderate to difficult scope and complexity
  • Demonstrated experience scoping, planning, and implementing capital or significant process change projects, including coordination of cross-functional teams from concept through start-up and handover.
  • Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)
  • Proficient/Working knowledge of data structures and database programming
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems, in addition to standard business application software and/ or specialized data analysis tools
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve problems
  • Ability to read and understand moderate to complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers

  • Pay Range: $84,915 to $141,320 annually
