Job summary

SGS Consulting is seeking an engineer to support process design, tooling, and safety within manufacturing environments. You will analyze operations and contribute to efficiency improvements on the shop floor.

You will use PFMEA, 8D, SAP, control plans, and capital projects tools to identify issues, propose concepts, and drive projects to completion with cross-functional teams. Ideal candidates hold a ME or EE degree and have 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, with strong CAD skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in ME/EE or related engineering field.
• 3–5 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, CREO, or SolidWorks for design.

Responsibilities

• Performs engineering work in process design, mechanical, manufacturing, tooling, and safety.
• Uses SPS tools (PFMEA, 8D, SAP, work orders, control plans) to resolve issues.
• Supports new product development with cost estimates and layouts.
• Leads tooling, fixture, and equipment design, purchase, and maintenance.
• Develops process safety, ergonomics, and material handling improvements.
• Serves manufacturing operations as key support, driving improvement projects.

Job description

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs a variety of engineering work which may be related to process design/layout; mechanical; manufacturing; tooling, and safety.
• Works on daily and long-term problems/projects using manufacturing, quality, and Client Production System (SPS) tools to resolve issues. ie. PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D, SAP, work orders, layout, etc.
• Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion (based upon SPS principles) for obtaining results.
• Supports new product development projects, determines cost estimates, design concepts, and engineering criteria along with conceptual process layouts for given project.
• Supports process tooling, fixture, and equipment design, purchase, and maintenance along with development of Capital expenditure proposals.
• Develops process, safety, ergonomic, and material handling improvement solutions.
• Serves manufacturing operations as KEY SUPPORT person leading resolutions to problems, implementing improvement, and leading projects to completion.

Skills:

• Experience with AutoCAD-(AutoCAD 2024 is the standard they are using CREO/ Solidworks- visualizing and designing )
• Process Definition- time study, work instruction, leverage a video or collaboration with a senior operator to Provide insights/ improvements for execution of a product on the line.
• ME degree is preferred but open to Supply/Industrial/ or other Engineer Degrees.
• Skills with Line Architecture and Industrial Processes
• Good communication and project managing skills
• Relevant manufacturing experience of 3 to 5 years preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in a field of Engineering: ME, EE
