Job summary

ESCO Maritime Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer in New York to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes across machining, assembly, fabrication, and automation. You will lead time studies, drive efficiency, and collaborate with design engineers and production managers for scalable production.

The role emphasizes Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, with responsibilities for documentation, root cause analysis, audits, and equipment validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering and 5+ years related experience.
• Strong knowledge of machining, assembly, fabrication, and automation.
• Proficiency in process optimization, Lean Manufacturing, and quality improvements.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools.
• Experience with statistical analysis, data-driven decisions, and process control.
• Excellent problem solving, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
• US Person or eligible to obtain Export Authorization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts to reach production goals.
• Identify and implement cost-effective process improvements, including automation and tooling upgrades.
• Conduct time and motion studies, process flow analysis, and capacity planning to maximize efficiency.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of processes.
• Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and hit targets.
• Investigate and troubleshoot process failures, quality problems, and equipment malfunctions; implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain production documentation, including SOPs and process specifications.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize downtime and ensure quality.
• Drive continuous improvement using Lean principles like 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
• Identify waste, reduce variability, and streamline processes to cut costs and boost productivity.
• Lead cross-functional projects to apply lean tools and improve manufacturability of new products.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and milestones; report progress to stakeholders.
• Ensure safety compliance and environmental health standards in manufacturing activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and improve manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts to achieve production goals
• Identify and implement cost-effective process improvements, including automation, tooling upgrades, and workflow optimizations
• Conduct time and motion studies, process flow analysis, and capacity planning to maximize efficiency and throughput
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers and production managers, to ensure seamless integration of processes
• Provide technical support and guidance to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and achieve production targets
• Investigate and troubleshoot process failures, quality problems, and equipment malfunctions, and implement corrective actions
• Develop and maintain production documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures to minimize production downtime and ensure product quality
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles, such as 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen
• Identify and eliminate waste, reduce variability, and streamline production processes to optimize productivity and reduce costs
• Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to implement lean tools and techniques and foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Conduct regular process audits and performance evaluations to track progress and identify areas for further improvement
• Identify, evaluate, and recommend new equipment, tools, and technologies to improve manufacturing processes and capabilities
• Collaborate with equipment vendors to ensure proper installation, commissioning, and validation of new equipment
• Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure optimal equipment performance and longevity
• Provide training and guidance to operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation and maintenance best practices
• Collaborate with quality engineers and inspectors to develop and implement quality control plans and ensure adherence to quality standards
• Conduct process capability studies, statistical analysis, and gauge repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) studies to ensure process capability
• Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and certifications
• Implement and maintain appropriate documentation and recordkeeping systems to support regulatory requirements
• Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects related to process improvement, new product introductions, and cost reduction initiatives
• Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products and effective transfer from R&D to production
• Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services
• Monitor project timelines, budgets, and milestones, and provide regular progress updates to stakeholders
• Adhere to and promote safety protocols and practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees
• Identify and address potential safety hazards and environmental risks in manufacturing processes
• Stay updated with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and implement necessary measures to achieve compliance
• Compliance with Quality Management System procedures

Required Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering and 5+ years related work experience
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, assembly, fabrication, and automation
• Proficiency in process optimization, Lean Manufacturing, and quality improvement methodologies
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and manufacturing simulation tools
• Experience with statistical analysis, data-driven decision making, and process control techniques
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical thinking, and decision-making skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• This position requires either a US Person or a non-US Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization

Compensation Information

Base Salary Range: $80,000- $120,000

Please note, this is the expected compensation however, ESCO Maritime Solutions considers many factors in determining compensation prior to offer such as: responsibilities and scope of role, candidate's work experience and education related to position, applicable certifications or trainings, business and market conditions.
