Job summary

Torrey Holistics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize CNC machining processes for new product introductions. You will work with quality, setup personnel, and machinists to ensure efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.

The role requires five years of CNC experience, strong CAD/CAM skills, GD&T expertise, and a proactive problem-solving mindset within a lean manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of CNC machining and process engineering experience.
  • Hands-on CNC programming, setup and operation experience, including probing and macro programming.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (SolidWorks, Esprit CAM, Siemens NX CAD/CAM); Vericut verification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement efficient CNC machining processes with tooling, fixtures, and programming for multi-axis machines.
  • Create and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software ensuring conformance to specs and quality.
  • Analyze workflows to improve productivity, reduce cycle times and waste.
  • Collaborate with design engineers for manufacturability (DFM) input during design phase.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis with corrective actions.
  • Evaluate CNC equipment and tooling for NPI; establish process documentation.
  • Train operators on CNC processes and quality standards.
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives; ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Job description

NPI Manufacturing Engineer Responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness for new product introductions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including quality engineers, quality assurance, setup personnel and machinists to support production goals, product quality and on-time delivery. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement efficient CNC machining processes, including tooling, fixtures, and programming for multi-axis CNC machines. • Create and optimize CNC programs using CAD/CAM software, ensuring compliance with product specifications and quality standards. • Analyze manufacturing workflows and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce cycle times, and minimize waste. • Collaborate with design engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products, offering DFM (Design for Manufacturability) input during the design phase. • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for manufacturing issues, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence. • Evaluate and select proper CNC equipment, tooling, and technologies for NPI. • Establish and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, setup sheets, and standard operating procedures. • Train and mentor machine operators and other staff on CNC processes, best practices, and quality standards. • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen projects. • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements in all manufacturing processes. Required Qualifications: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in CNC machining and process engineering. • Extensive hands-on experience with CNC machine programming, setup and operation. This includes advanced skills like probing and macro programming. • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software Examples of our commonly used packages (SolidWorks CAD, Esprit CAM, Siemens NX CAD/CAM) including verification software Vericut. • In-depth knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining (e.g., 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, and multi axis mill-turn lathes). • Ability to interpret engineering drawings/specifications/standards in accordance with customer requirements. • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASNI Y14.5) and blueprint reading. • Extensive knowledge and use of common metrology & measurement systems. • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and process optimization. • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to perform root cause analysis. • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
