Job Details

Job Location: WICHITA, KS 67217

Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 Salary

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: $80,000 - $95,000 annually with three scheduled increases the first year

This role is responsible for transforming engineering data packages into clear, optimized production realities for complex aerospace components. This role leads the end-to-end manufacturing planning lifecycle, from generating precise production orders and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to authoring comprehensive, step-by-step process routings for multi-axis CNC machining and sheet metal fabrication and assembly.

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between design engineering and the shop floor, successfully executing critical change management (EOs) and performing vital impact analyses on WIP and raw materials. Acting as a key technical resource, this individual will collaborate with programmers to optimize machining parameters, design robust tooling and fixturing to eliminate part distortion, and carefully coordinate complex internal and external process sequences to ensure on-time delivery and strict adherence to tight dimensional tolerances.

  • Manufacturing Order Creation: Generate, release, and manage comprehensive productions orders, shop travelers, and bills of materials (BOMs) based on Master Productions Schedules (MPS) and engineering data package releases.
  • Process Sequencing & Routing: Author clear, step-by-step manufacturing operations routings. Determine the optimal sequences for multi-step metal fabrication workflows, factoring in lead time for internal processes (e.g., CNC milling, deburring) and external processing (e.g., NADCAP heat treat, anodizing).
  • Change Management Integration: Review and incorporate Engineering Orders (EOs), structural design revisions, and customer deviations into active productions schedules. Perform impact analysis on raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and delivery timelines before executing configuration changes.
  • Process Creation & Executive: Formulate and document detailed manufacturing routing, work instruction and bills of materials (BOMs)for the fabrication of complex aerospace components from raw sheet metal, forgings, or bar stock.
  • CNC & Machining Support: Provide advanced technical guidance for multi-axis CNC machining, milling, turning, and sheet metal forming operations. Partner with programmers to optimize speeds, feeds, and tool path for high-tolerance aerospace metals.
  • Tooling, Fixturing & Gaging: Design, test, and implement robust manufacturing fixtures, jigs, and specialized holding tools. Troubleshoot tooling wear and mechanical failures on the shop floor to prevent part distortion and maintain tight dimensional tolerances.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related technical discipline.
Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years of planning, scheduling or operations routing experience in a heavy manufacturing facility. Direct experience dealing with aerospace metals or working under aerospace prime requirements (e.g. Spirit, Boeing, Textron) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on engineering experience in metal-shaping environment. Direct experience with precision aerospace components or working under aerospace prime requirements (e.g. Spirit, Boeing, Textron) is highly preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency with CATIA V5 modeling software.
  • High competency in navigating 2D engineering blueprints, configuration control documents, and basic 3D CAD viewer software
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality management structures
  • Advanced proficiency in configuration management and ERP/MRP software systems.
  • Expert interpretation of blueprints, complex engineering drawings, and advanced GD&T application
