Job summary

Actalent seeks a Manufacturing Engineer in Wichita, KS to develop and support safe work environments, analyze customer engineering data for product configuration, and support new product introductions through cross‑functional teams.

The engineer will also coordinate engineering data conflicts, print data packages for QA, and create detailed work instructions for assemblies. This onsite role offers contract-to-hire with a pay range of $75k–$95k per year.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ direct aerospace manufacturing engineer/planner experience.
• Knowledge of aerospace drawings and standards.
• GD&T proficiency and geometric dimensioning practices.
• Proficient with MRP/ERP systems including Syteline.
• MS Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Print engineering data packages and provide to QA for control and release to the shop.
• Create detailed step-by-step work instructions for manufacturing complex machined details and assemblies.
• Generate detailed requirements for outsourcing of fabricated components.
• Coordinate machining sequences and raw material requirements with the N/C programming manager.
• Create bills of materials to support material and fastener procurement.
• Coordinate requirements for shop and processing visual aids.
• Provide technical support to internal departments and vendor bases.
• Support 6 sigma lean events as directed.
• Identify and implement process improvement tools from raw material to finished goods delivery.
• Ensure the appropriate flow of technical information between internal and external customers.
• Perform shop liaison actions to support engineering changes in shop-released work instructions.

• Generate detailed step-by-step work instructions for manufacturing complex machined details and assemblies, with a heavy emphasis on assembly practices.
• Generate detailed requirements for outsourcing of fabricated components.
• Coordinate machining sequences and raw material requirements with the N/C programming manager.
• Create bills of materials to support the acquisition of raw materials, rivets, bolts, etc.
• Coordinate requirements for shop and processing visual aids.
• Provide technical support to internal departments and outsource vendor bases.
• Support 6 sigma lean events as directed.
• Identify and implement process improvement tools in manufacturing processes, from raw material delivery to finished goods delivery.
• Ensure the appropriate flow of technical information between internal and external customers.
• Perform shop liaison actions to support engineering changes in shop-released work instructions.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years’ direct experience as an aerospace manufacturing engineer/planner.
• Knowledge of aerospace metal fabrication, machining, and assembly practices.
• Experience in reading engineering drawings and interpreting aerospace industry specifications and standards.
• Thorough knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices (GD&T).
• Proficiency with MRP/ERP software systems; experience with Syteline MRP is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access).
• Highly motivated, detailed, and team-oriented.
• Ability to meet frequent short timeline goals and deadlines.
• Self-starter with the ability to perform responsibilities with minimal direction.
• Exhibits dependability, including following instructions and taking responsibility for own actions.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work within deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Some experience using CAD systems such as AutoCAD, DraftSight, CATIA, etc. is preferred.
• Strong ability to interpret multiple aerospace industry specifications and standards.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 7 AM to 4 PM, in an engineering office setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $95000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
