This is a hands-on, floor-focused engineering role responsible for driving continuous improvement, eliminating recurring production barriers, and managing capital projects from scope through commissioning. The position maintains a strong presence on the floor to partner with operators, production, and maintenance teams, translating daily operational challenges into lasting technical solutions. While maintenance owns routine repairs and breakdown response, this role focuses on root-cause analysis, equipment reliability, and long-term engineered fixes.

What's In It For You
  • Direct Operational Impact: See your engineering solutions directly improve daily floor operations and line efficiency in real time.
  • Project Ownership: Drive end-to-end CapEx projects from initial scope and budgeting to vendor management and commissioning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong professional relationships working alongside diverse teams in safety, operations, and maintenance.
  • Professional Growth: Gain valuable hands-on experience in high-speed packaging, automated systems, and structured continuous improvement techniques.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain a regular floor presence to observe line performance, collaborate with operators, and convert production issues into practical technical improvements.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects targeting worker safety, food safety, product quality, line efficiency, and productivity.
  • Apply structured root-cause problem-solving to address recurring or complex process, design, and equipment failures.
  • Partner with maintenance leadership to analyze failure patterns, improve equipment reliability, and implement preventative engineering corrections.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of CapEx projects, including scoping, budgeting, vendor coordination, installation, commissioning, training, and ROI closeout.
  • Oversee technical change control, ensuring drawings, electrical prints, PLC backups, and SOP/LOTO updates are accurate and documented.
  • Support facility/utility systems (compressed air, dust collection, HVAC) and technical feasibility evaluations for new product or packaging initiatives.
  • Direct and mentor engineering interns on assigned projects when applicable.

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Skills
  • Manufacturing experience, ideally within a food processing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with packaging equipment, particularly Vertical or Horizontal Form, Fill, and Seal machines.
  • Experience managing capital projects, equipment installation, commissioning, or process optimization.
  • Formal training or certification in Six Sigma, LEAN, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Practical experience working within an SAP environment.
