Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to support production operations on the shop floor and drive continuous improvement initiatives in Utah. The role focuses on solving real-time problems, reducing scrap, and increasing productivity across multiple product lines.

You will spend ~70% on the production floor and ~30% at a desk, collaborating with operators, line leads, and Value Stream managers to sustain smooth production flow and implement corrective actions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting production, process improvement, or continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis experience.
  • Comfortable spending the majority of the day on the manufacturing floor.
  • Hands-on manufacturing mindset with a passion for solving production problems. Plastic injection molding experience.
  • Compression molding experience.
  • CNC machining and/or CNC programming experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Kaizen event leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with production operators, line leads, production planners, and Value Stream Managers to maintain production flow.
  • Identify root causes of production challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, delivery performance, quality, and scrap reduction.
  • Support injection molding and compression molding manufacturing processes.
  • Assist with tooling and mold design concepts and provide recommendations for process improvements.
  • Review engineering drawings, support project quoting activities, and maintain process documentation.
  • Evaluate equipment, molds, tooling, and production processes to improve efficiency and performance.
  • Lead or participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support multiple product lines and a large portfolio of manufacturing part numbers while ensuring production goals are met.
