Job summary

Moog Inc. in Chatsworth, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to assess current manufacturing capabilities, develop a strategy for product programs, determine the most effective production methods, and upgrade equipment capacity and capability.

You will assume ownership of the design and technical transfer of all tools to Operations, qualifying them for use with the highest standards of safety, quality, and output.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar from a four-year accredited university; minimum 3 years related experience
  • Statistical analysis and understanding of Design of Experiments
  • Technical writing for highly regulated environments
  • Fixture design experience
  • Solidworks or other 3D modeling software
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics and produce working prototypes
  • Understanding of Basic, Digital and Analog electronics principles
  • Understanding of bills of materials and product structures
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead automation projects from concept to implementation

Responsibilities

  • Resolve production issues, field failures, and customer complaints quickly and effectively
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements
  • Design and optimize tools, equipment, and documentation to enhance assembly, testing, and repair operations
  • Support lean manufacturing efforts including Kaizen and Gemba activities
  • Manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and ensure smooth implementation
  • Provide hands-on engineering support and training to production teams
  • Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation and reports
  • Execute validation activities (IQ, OQ, PQ) for new product transfers and process changes
  • Collaborate with customers on project requirements and development updates
  • Establish preventive maintenance and calibration programs for production equipment
  • Investigate nonconforming materials and manage CAPAs
  • Oversee capital projects (CAPEX), including budgeting and reporting
  • Present project updates and issue resolutions to local and corporate leadership
  • Champion a lean culture focused on reducing waste and maximizing productivity

Moog is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer to assess the current manufacturing capabilities; develop a strategy for our product programs; determine the most effective production methods; and implement equipment capacity and capability upgrades. You will assume ownership the design and technical transfer of all tools to Operations, qualifying them for use with the highest standards of safety, quality, and output. You will also develop new processes and automation. Reporting to an Engineering manager, you will have a 9/80 schedule option and work onsite in Chatsworth, CA (Los Angeles area).
As a Manufacturing Engineer you will…

To be considered for the Manufacturing Engineer position, you will need…

  • Bachelor’s (B.S.) in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline from a four-year accredited university, with a minimum of three (3) years relevant experience
  • Statistical analysis along with an understanding of the Design of Experiments
  • Technical writing for highly regulated environment
  • Fixture design
  • Solidworks, or other 3D modeling software
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics and produce working prototypes

Salary Range Transparency
Chatsworth, CA $100,000.00–$130,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
