Job description

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, quality, safety, productivity, and on-time performance. Utilizing deep expertise in product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards, this individual drives operational excellence across all shop floor operations. The position reports directly to company leadership, works collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and holds stop-work authority to address safety or manufacturing concerns immediately.

Benefits and Compensation

Competitive Pay: 90k-120K DOE to start! If you are transitioning from another Manufacturing Engineer role, we offer great starting rates for our second-shift hours.

Comprehensive Benefits: Includes premium health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and eligibility for an incentive recognition bonus program.

Career Advancement: Access to specialized training in plant machine operator or assembly techniques and fast-track promotion opportunities.

Responsibilities Include
  • Consistently apply core company values of quality, honesty, fairness, and the constant pursuit of excellence in providing precision metal fabrications, mechanical assemblies, and services on time and at a competitive price.

  • Program CNC turret punches; model and generate flat layouts for sheet metal parts and mechanical assemblies using CNC programming and CAD/CAM software.

  • Utilize blueprints and 3D models to create programs that meet exact dimensions and specified tolerance levels.

  • Review drawings, blueprints, and models for engineering changes; update programs accordingly and document critical highlights (grain directions, color-code hardware, symmetry) on both office and shop floor prints.

  • Design and generate original blueprints for new projects and for clients requiring custom engineering support.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams—Including Sales, Estimating, Purchasing, Quality Control, and Production - during new product development to clarify requirements and establish optimal manufacturing methods.

  • Audit job tickets for accuracy regarding revision levels, dates, quantities, material specifications, and overall job setups.

  • Optimize production processes to minimize part scrap and maximize raw material yield.

  • Troubleshoot equipment and production line processes to maximize machine uptime and workforce productivity.

  • Analyze engineering drawings and manufacturing plans for potential failure modes, clearly communicating issues and proposing viable solutions.

  • Review repeat job routings and manufacturing notes from office personnel to correct historical production issues.

  • Oversee sheet metal fabrication workflows, including CNC turrets, press brake forming, hardware insertion, resistance welding, and MIG/TIG welding.

  • Implement lean manufacturing policies and engineering best practices to enhance operating performance while eliminating waste, delays, and costs.

  • Calculate and quote laser processing times, blank dimensions, and material yields for cost estimating.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe engineering environment and tool setup at all times.

  • Escalate production bottlenecks or safety hazards to management and participate directly in corrective action implementations.

  • Execute independent decisions grounded in engineering best practices and customer quality specifications.

  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education, industry publications, professional networks, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills / Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial preferred); equivalent hands-on experience in precision fabrication will be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with strong preference for sheet metal fabrication and precision machining.

  • Software & CAD/CAM Proficiency: Proven skills in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Mastercam), ERP systems (e.g., JobBOSS / JobBOSS2), and standard office productivity suites.

  • Fabrication & Metal Theory: Thorough knowledge of flat pattern generation, sheet metal bend deductions, tonnage calculations for cutting/forming, and tool selection.

  • Assembly & Joining Processes: Practical understanding of mechanical assembly, resistance spot welding, and MIG/TIG welding operations.

  • Communication & Problem Solving: Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently, troubleshoot equipment issues under pressure, and communicate technical solutions clearly.

What's In It For You
  • Direct involvement in high-impact engineering projects with executive-level visibility and decision-making authority.

  • A collaborative, safety-focused work culture dedicated to manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Generous total rewards package with comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage plus incentive bonuses.

  • Structured career development and fast-track opportunities to expand your engineering expertise and technical skills.
