Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a 1st shift (8 AM–5 PM) in Holland, MI. The role focuses on developing and implementing cost-effective manufacturing processes in line with product specs and quality standards.

Responsibilities include launching new or revised products, improving production methods, and training team members. The candidate should have a B.S. in Engineering and experience with automated assembly, cell layouts, and relevant software tools.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Automated assembly experience.
  • Cell layout, sheet metal fabrication and assembly experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement manufacturing processes for cost reduction and quality.
  • Coordinate manufacturing launches for new/revised products.
  • Design and cost-justify tools and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives and mentor team members.

Who We Want:

Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

What You’ll Do:

Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes, including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment. Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment. Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products, including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results. Designs, develops, tests or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Creates and maintains job elements sheets and standard work sheets. Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement and efficiency improvement. Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams. Leads and supports lean manufacturing initiatives; including, cost reductions and productivity improvements.

When and Where:

This will be a 1st Shift /8 AM-5PM M-F position located at our Plant Holland, MI.

What You Need to Have:

B.S degree from a 4 year college or university in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, etc) or equivalent experience and demonstrated knowledge of: Automated assembly experience Cell layout experience MS Office experience BIW product understanding & experience Sheet metal fabrication and assembly experience AutoCad experience Plexus experience
