Job summary

Fisher Barton is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement efficient processes aligned with product specs. You’ll coordinate product launches and work with R&D, operations, and quality to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities include CAD tooling design, fixture development, and applying Lean/Six Sigma to drive improvements and asset utilization. The role requires hands-on testing, data analysis, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering roles.
• Design and drafting experience, preferably with SolidWorks.

What does it mean to be a Manufacturing Engineer at Fisher Barton Thermal Spray Technologies?

The successful Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinates manufacturing launch for new or existing products. This position will coordinate between research and development, management, production, technical sales, and quality to meet customer requirements.

• Utilizes CAD system to develop tooling and fixture designs as needed to support production.
• Design and implementation of part holding fixtures and production machine improvements
• Assistoperations in conducting testing, preparing analyses, and identifying key measures and process improvements using plant performance data analysis
• Partner with plant operations personnel to secure process data for identification of technology gaps, improvement opportunities, and project definitions
• Coachplant personnel on measurements and daily updates of technology performance/asset utilization data
• Pinpoint efficiencies, create process projects, and execute initiatives to drive efficiencies and repeatable processes in production that are aligned to the business strategies and objectives
• Provide technical plant support in specialized areas including process simulation, modeling, risk analysis, and process optimization
• Assist in managing asset utilization and project budgets
• Provide data to validate that projects deliver performance objectives after implementation
• Accepts and supports the Thermal Spray Technologies Quality System and Safety protocols.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or other related field and 3 - 5 years of experience.
• Design and drafting experience, preferably with SolidWorks

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3 - 5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

Additional Knowledge & Skills:

• Advanced user of CAD/CAM software.
• Seasoned knowledge of manufacturing requirements and demonstrated ability to incorporate those requirements into product processing/design.
• Possesses solid technical ability in one or more associated technologies including but not limited to milling, grinding, turning, machine automation, robotics, heat treat, material science, or welding operations.
• Solid working knowledge of material properties and characteristics.
• Possesses excellent computer, math, and problem-solving skills.
• Positively works and communicates with all associates (one-on-one and in group settings) throughout the organization, even when faced with challenging situations or opposing viewpoints.
• Understands Lean, Six Sigma, 6S concepts and application of those concepts.
• Possesses strong internal drive for results, is a self-starter and able to effectively manage competing priorities.

Physical | Visual Demands:

*Ability to read and interpret 2D drawings and GD&T

• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize work, and balance competing tasks

• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, and a respirator
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
