Job summary

MiTek Tolleson is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements, safety, and quality across production. You will partner with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and Supply Chain to implement new technologies, support automation and robotics, and troubleshoot equipment issues.

Responsibilities include leading capital projects, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

POSITION SUMMARY Join MiTek's Tolleson manufacturing team and help drive manufacturing, automation, and advanced engineering solutions. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for improving safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency by optimizing manufacturing processes, supporting equipment performance, and leading capital and continuous improvement projects.

This hands-on role partners closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Safety, and Supply Chain teams to implement new technologies, support automation and robotics systems, and troubleshoot equipment issues, and drive sustainable operational improvements.

• Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean principles, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision making.
• Support and optimize automation, controls, and robotic systems to improve equipment reliability and throughput.
• Provide hands-on technical support and troubleshooting for manufacturing equipment and production processes.

• Process validation, commissioning activities, and new product introductions.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, operating procedures, and training materials.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce downtime and improve operational performance.
• Manage capital improvement projects, including planning, budgeting, vendor coordination, and implementation.
• Monitor production and equipment performance metrics and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, machine guarding requirements, risk assessments, and company policies.
• Evaluate and recommend new manufacturing technologies that align with business objectives.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related engineering discipline required.
• Six Sigma Certification required.
• Experience: 5+ years of manufacturing engineering, automation engineering, controls engineering, or related experience. Experience supporting manufacturing operations, process improvements, equipment reliability, capital projects, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives. GD&T experience required.
• Preferred: Experience in metal fabrication, welding, stamping press, press brake, laser, punch press, automated assembly, or similar manufacturing environments. Experience with industrial robotics, PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and automation equipment. Experience programming and troubleshooting FANUC, ABB, Motoman, Universal Robots, or similar robotic platforms. Knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawings, CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), ERP systems, and manufacturing reporting tools.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial equipment, automation systems, robotics, and controls.
• Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong project management, organization, and continuous improvement capabilities.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, technical documents, and operating procedures.
• Ability to analyze production data and implement process improvements.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and collaboration across all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments. Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and access production equipment as needed. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Ability to travel as business needs require.
