Job summary

MiTek Industries in Tolleson, AZ is seeking a Fabricator to operate and set up fabricating machines for cutting, bending and forming metal parts. You will handle quality measurements, document results, and ensure safety while meeting daily production goals.

The role requires routine use of measurement tools and basic PC skills, with emphasis on reliability, teamwork, and safety compliance. Overtime may be required to meet demand.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related fabrication experience preferred.
• Ability to read tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
• Basic PC skills helpful for data entry and quality records.
• Effective communication with coworkers and supervision.

Responsibilities

• Set up stamping, cutting, breaking, bending and forming equipment.
• Operate forklifts and machine interfaces; meet safety and production goals.
• Document quality measurements and inspect finished parts.
• Report equipment malfunctions and assist maintenance as needed.
• Maintain attendance and readiness for scheduled shifts.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

POSITION SUMMARY

The Fabricator operates and setups fabricating machines such as shears, press breaks, presses, forming machines, punches that cut, shape and bend metal plates, sheets, and structures by performing the following duties below.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Setup various, stamping, and support equipment including but not limited to, cut-off presses, punch presses, break presses, bender, and operate forklifts. Meet and/or exceed daily safety, quality, and production goals. Report all equipment malfunctions to mechanics or supervisors and assist in keeping the equipment operational. Operate bar code scanning computers and machine operator interface controls. Prepare product for shipment including lifting and stacking product onto conveyors and carts. Strive to keep product waste to a minimum; inspect finished products; read and record all quality measurements using tape measures, micrometers, calipers, and angle gauges as required by the quality control manual. Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes but is not limited to the ability to work overtime as required, to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift. Cutting and fabricating of sheet metals parts, assemblies and sub-assemblies. Documentation of quality inspection into the data system. Operation of a variety of machinery including presses, brakes, and bender. Quality control including measurement of tolerances and dimensions.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
• Experience: One to three year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer Skills: Some PC skills helpful, but not required.
• Other Requirements: Effectively communicate with co-workers and management regarding work and safety issues.
• Mathematical Skills: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure,using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
• Reasoning Abilities: Apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
• Comprehend job training and safety instructions.
