Job summary

Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc. in Titusville, PA seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to drive technical and administrative direction at the plant to improve operations. The role requires a BS in relevant engineering and 3–5 years in heavy manufacturing, with AutoCAD proficiency and strong leadership.

You will collaborate with EHS, manage capital projects, and work with customers and vendors to ensure safety, efficiency, and profitability of plant operations.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical/industrial/metallurgy engineering from an accredited program.
• 3–5 years in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with roll grinding in the steel industry.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent 2D software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Direct technical objectives to safely achieve high equipment availability and efficiency.
• Design roll shop tooling using OEM drawings and specs.
• Develop relationships with customers to align tooling and production needs.
• Work with shop floor personnel to improve safety and operations.
• Lead as part of the plant team to drive success and improvements.
• Coordinate with outside vendors for conversion services.
• Manage capital projects, budgets, and execution at the plant level.
• Collaborate with EHS to implement safe work procedures and uptime improvements.
• Troubleshoot production issues and assist Quality in root-cause analysis.
• Support environmental sampling and reporting; assist with major maintenance.

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer position is responsible for developing and implementing technical and administrative direction at the plant level to improve operations. Demonstrates a strong leadership role. Actively participates in professional development to assume positions of managerial responsibility.

MUST be a US citizen.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct technical objectives to safely achieve a high degree of equipment availability, maximize operation efficiency, and cost efficiencies to promote profitability.
• Design roll shop tooling utilizing OEM drawings and specifications
• Develop positive relationships with the customers to allow for continuous communication regarding tooling and production requirements.
• Develop positive relationships with the shop floor personnel to improve safety and operations.
• Serve as an active member of the team and contribute towards plant success.
• Ability to work with outside vendors for conversion services.
• Manage capital projects at the plant level. Support budget development, management and execution.
• Work with EHS personnel to develop and implement standard safe work procedures to improve shop uptime, reduce costs and improve operational efficiency and productivity/output.
• Troubleshoot production issues and assist Quality Manager in assessing root cause.
• Responsible for environmental sampling and reporting.
• Assists with identifying and managing major maintenance projects.

Education and Experience

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Metallurgy or related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

• Three (3) to Five (5) years’ experience in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity of roll grinding in the steel Industry experience.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent 2D software required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office products.

Working Conditions

• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and eye and hearing protection.
