Job summary

Sunnen Products Company in St. Louis, MO, seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and review manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 2–5 years of manufacturing engineering experience in machining or precision manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming/setup, GD&T, and blueprint reading.
  • Experience with root cause analysis tools (5-Why, A3, 8D).
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Creo, Esprit, or similar).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MES systems and data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or OAC a plus).
  • Strong communication skills to present findings to cross-functional and leadership audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes for CNC machining, assembly, and related operations.
  • Design and specify tooling, fixtures, and work-holding solutions to improve quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for scrap, rework, and quality escapes.
  • Support new part/program introduction, including process planning, capacity analysis, and first-article qualification.
  • Analyze production data (cycle times, scrap costs, OEE, downtime metrics) to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with Quality on PPAP, FMEA, control plans, and other APQP deliverables.
  • Drive Lean/Six Sigma initiatives (Kaizen events, value stream mapping, 5S) on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with Operations leadership on capital equipment justification and implementation.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, routers, and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to resolve day-to-day manufacturing issues.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer role at our St. Louis headquarters is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment. This role will also coordinate with Product Design Engineering, applying DFMA principles to improve manufacturability and cost. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence. This role is also responsible for identifying, project managing, and implementing capital projects.

Essential Functions Of The Job

Position Qualification Requirements
