Job summary

thyssenkrupp Materials Services is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize production processes, improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. You will support operations through process improvement, programming, training, and new product deployment while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

The role involves equipment expertise across CNC machines, PLCs, automation, and tooling, with a focus on continuous improvement and teamwork

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3–5 years in manufacturing engineering or process improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, tooling, and production equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, CNC machinery, and automation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert for manufacturing equipment (CNC, routers, waterjets, saws, robotics, PLC systems).
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain processes, tooling, and work instructions to meet goals.
  • Analyze production methods and identify efficiency, quality, throughput, and cost improvements.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and support equipment and automation systems.
  • Coordinate launch of new products and process changes into production.

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency. This role supports production operations through process improvement, equipment programming, employee training, and new product implementation while ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for manufacturing equipment, including CNC machines, routers, waterjets, saws, robotics, and PLC-controlled systems.
  • Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes, tooling, and work instructions to support production goals.
  • Analyze production methods and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, throughput, and cost performance.
  • Program, troubleshoot, and support manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Coordinate the launch of new products and process changes, ensuring successful implementation into production.
  • Monitor process performance and recommend corrective actions to improve manufacturing outcomes.
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing documentation, reports, process data, and equipment records.
  • Support preventative maintenance initiatives and coordinate equipment repairs as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction.
  • Assist in developing training programs and apprenticeship initiatives for new and developing employees.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and leadership teams to resolve operational challenges.
  • Support production control systems, standard operating procedures, quality programs, and safety initiatives.
  • May require temporary shift rotation during the onboarding and training period.
Hiring Range: $77,000 - $88,000 annually

Compensation will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field preferred. Equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • 3-5 years of manufacturing engineering or process improvement experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, tooling, and production equipment.
  • Working knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment, CNC machinery, automation, or related manufacturing technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Project management experience, including leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience training operators and supporting workforce development programs.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills.
