Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support manufacturing engineering and production improvement projects at a major industrial/automotive manufacturing facility in San Antonio, TX.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, with strong expertise in line balancing, process setup, manufacturing layouts, tooling/equipment installation, and process improvement.
Candidates with experience in the automotive or truck manufacturing industry are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain 2D and 3D manufacturing layouts using AutoCAD.
- Support manufacturing engineering projects by translating engineering concepts and designs into detailed technical drawings and production layouts.
- Perform line balancing, process mapping, PFMEA, standard work, and process setup activities.
- Support the installation, implementation, and commissioning of manufacturing tooling and equipment.
- Analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and production requirements to create accurate technical drawings.
- Perform physical measurements and develop layouts as required.
- Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and other stakeholders to clarify design requirements and resolve issues.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary project reviews across engineering, manufacturing, and other departments.
- Place and follow up on purchase orders for tooling and equipment as needed.
- Create and maintain project/problem follow-up sheets to track activities and completion.
- Support prototype and pilot build activities, including manufacturing tools and equipment requirements.
- Review drawings and layouts for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with engineering and industry standards.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to perform analysis and prepare presentations and project updates.
- Support multiple projects while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
- Work overtime and/or weekends when required to meet project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required.
- Preferred degree disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced experience with AutoCAD, including both 2D and 3D layouts/drawings.
- Experience with line balancing and manufacturing process setup.
- Knowledge of PFMEA, process mapping, standard work, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience supporting manufacturing tooling and equipment installation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and design concepts.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to work overtime and/or weekends based on project needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Automotive or truck manufacturing industry experience.
- Experience with Standard Pro software.
- Experience supporting prototype, pilot, or new production builds.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment, tooling, and production line implementation.
