Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.As the **Manufacturing Engineer**, you will provide technical expertise necessary to design all aspects of production, costs, quality, compliance to safety guidelines, and environmental requirements for manufacturing. **Additional Information:*** + **Location:** Peoria, IL (United States) + **Required Travel:** Up to 25% (Domestic & International) + **Relocation Assistance Offered:** None + **US Work Sponsorship Offered:** None**What You Will Do:*** **Preventative Maintenance and Calibration (60% of the role):** + **Inspect, service, and maintain** laboratory testing instrumentation to maximize equipment reliability and runtime. + **Log all maintenance history** and calibration compliance + **Train and guide** Laboratory Managers and lab personnel on the proper daily care, handling, and basic maintenance of instrumentation. + **Liaison with OEMs** when equipment requires specialized outside servicing. + **Monitor maintenance activity**, track equipment downtime costs, and report instrument availability to upper management.* **Reactionary Maintenance & Troubleshooting (20% of the role):** + **Diagnose hardware and software issues** dynamically to determine if repairs can be addressed internally or require vendor intervention. + **Perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA)** to understand why an instrument failed and prevent recurrence. + **Swiftly resolve emergency equipment breakdowns** to minimize impact on sample testing turnaround times.* **Purchasing, Inventory, & Continuous Improvement (20% of the role):** + **Manage the spare parts inventory**, standardizing the parts ordering processes to maintain cost-efficiency while reducing wait times for critical repairs. + **Collaborate with procurement** to establish backup suppliers for high-priority items. + **Support Lean and 5S initiatives**, working collaboratively across cross-functional lab teams to implement efficiency upgrades.**What You Have (Basic Requirements):**· **Collaborative Automation:** Knowledge of techniques and processes of collaborative automation; ability to develop and deploy cobots to automate manufacturing processes.· **Decision Making and Critical Thinking:** Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.· **Engineering - MFG:** Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.· **Lean Manufacturing:** Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.· **Manufacturing Processes:** Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.· **Problem Solving:** Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.· **Project Management:** Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.· **Robotic Process Automation (RPA):** Knowledge of techniques and processes of robotic process automation (RPA); ability to develop and deploy RPA solutions in various industries.**What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):*** **Education Requirement:** Bachelor’s in Chemistry or related* **Technical Skills:** Strong technical aptitude for troubleshooting scientific equipment, working within CMMS networks, and interpreting technical manuals; ability to work under tight production deadlines.* **Travel:** Ability to occasionally travel for business purposes (e.g., supporting remote laboratory locations or vendor training).**What You Will Get:****This is Caterpillar** – creating and delivering world-class components and solutions superior to the competition.
