Job summary

KMT Waterjet in Baxter Springs, KS, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead financial reporting for the largest manufacturing facility within the Shape Technologies Group. This role reports to the Assistant Controller and drives accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement across cost accounting, budgeting, and internal controls.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing to optimize processes, prepare reports, and implement cost-saving opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent
• 5 years of manufacturing experience, including CNC machining and assembly
• Proficient in MS Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD packages

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the manufacturing team and develop positive team dynamics to ensure high performance.
• Drive CNC process improvements and tooling optimization.
• Liaise with Engineering to ensure manufacturability and effective resolution of issues.
• Liaise with Purchasing to resolve cost-saving manufacturing issues.
• Define manufacturing processes and SOPs for parts and setups.
• Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

Based in Baxter Springs, KS near the rapidly expanding Joplin, MO area, the Accounting Manager will report to the Assistant Controller and play a key role in driving and providing accurate financial reporting for the largest manufacturing facility within the $450mm+ Shape Technologies Group. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide leadership and direction to the manufacturing team and develop positive team dynamics to ensure high performance.
• Ensure new parts and machining optimization projects are completed by the required deadline, at a reasonable cost, and with a robust process to engineered tolerances.
• Acts as a liaison with the Engineering department to ensure effective resolution of issues as they relate to manufacturing, including Sustaining Engineering.
• Acts as a liaison with the Purchasing department to provide an effective resolution of cost-saving issues as they relate to manufacturing.
• Works with the Engineering department by optimizing the design from a precision, manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and repeatability point of view.
• Defines manufacturing process for parts, including machine work centers, setup and run-time estimates, as well as manufacturing SOPs.
• Determines internal manufacturing capabilities and decides whether a manufacturing process needs to be sent out to a third-party manufacturer.
• Applies knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials while conferring with equipment vendors and soliciting observations from operators to ensure parts are manufactured at an effective cost and to a high degree of precision and quality.
• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.
• Conduct machine capability, floor space optimization, and workflow studies to drive improvements.
• Approve and process Engineering Changes and update routers to reflect ECs.
• Identify and implement improvement opportunities for CNC programs, tooling, and set-ups of CNC equipment on a continuous basis.
• Managing and tracking process improvements, alternate part routings and structures, and tool cost reduction projects.
• Provide daily machine shop support for problem-solving and process improvement.
• Complete Capital Expenditure Requests for all manufacturing operations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be familiar with all types of CNC machines, cutting tools, and raw materials.
• Thorough understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing standards.
• Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, and competing demands, and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Must be able to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
• Demonstrates strong time management skills with the ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects.

Education/Experience and/or Training:

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience in a similar engineering field.
• 5 years of manufacturing experience, including CNC machining and assembly.
• Proficient in MS Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent CAD packages.
