Beyond Reach Labs in the United States is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to move qualification and flight units into a repeatable production line. You will be hands-on on the shop floor, collaborating with design engineers and technicians to grow the production capability.
Your responsibilities include supporting assembly and acceptance, writing work instructions, designing tooling, documenting nonconformances, and driving process improvements.
They say the best deployable is no deployable, but we believe large deployable mechanisms are the future for large infrastructure in space.
At Beyond Reach Labs, we are designing and building the largest deployable structures ever flown to space. As an engineering-driven organization, you will be at the forefront of the company's key technology development.
To make this possible, our deployables need to move from hand-built prototypes to a repeatable, qualified production line. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be hands-on in building qualification and flight units and in developing the processes, tooling, and documentation that make them repeatable. You will work closely with design engineers and technicians on the shop floor, and help shape how the production line grows.
Support assembly, integration, and acceptance of qualification and flight units, from parts kitting through delivery.
Write and maintain work instructions, travelers, and inspection points for flight hardware builds.
Design and build tooling, fixtures, and assembly aids, and help maintain cleanliness and ESD controls on the floor.
Document nonconformances, run root cause investigations, and drive corrective actions.
Keep complete and accurate as-built records.
Review designs with design engineers for manufacturability and ease of assembly before drawings release.
Find and implement improvements to yield, cycle time, and cost.
Work with suppliers of machined parts, cables, coatings, and composites on quotes, first article inspections, and quality issues.
Train technicians on new processes and work instructions.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
1+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, or test of spaceflight, launch vehicle, or similar high-reliability hardware.
Experience writing work instructions or travelers for hardware builds.
Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, tooling, or fixture design.
Proficiency with CAD (for example, SolidWorks, NX, or Onshape) and GD&T.
Experience supporting a product’s transition from prototype to repeatable production.
Familiarity with AS9100 quality systems and nonconformance processes.
Experience with deployable mechanisms, solar arrays, or cable-tensioned structures.
Experience working with precision machining, composites, or coatings suppliers.
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as necessary to support critical project milestones.
Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for authorization under U.S. export regulations.
