With the right experience, make $85,000 to $95,000 to start

Supports the Pre-Production Process and take initiative to achieve realization of estimated costs; meet all customer requirements and specifications; on-time delivery of materials and information; improved productivity and workflow; reduction in errors and rework costs.

  • Prepare estimates for customer products and services in accordance with company methods and procedures.
  • Process new customer orders and track their progress through all phases of the manufacturing process. Compare actual costs with estimates, analyze variations, and report findings with recommendations as required.
  • Utilize CAD/CAM to generate and interpret shop floor drawings. (SolidWorks / Draftsight)
  • Calculate dimensions and allowances in accordance with established drafting practices and alter drawings to suit engineering changes, TMS processes and to meet customer specifications.
  • Work with production staff and cross-functional teams to plan, implement, lead and/or execute actions that result in process and system improvements in order to meet realization of estimated costs and address quality concerns. Analyze problems, diagnose probable causes, provide troubleshooting solutions, and implement cost-effective solutions in order to improve processes, quality and efficiencies.
  • Analyze, evaluate and recommend solutions concerning factors such as production capabilities, manufacturing problems, and process capability studies.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications, calculate Return On Investment (ROI) and arrange for the purchase of equipment or tooling according to specifications, quality standards and budget constraints.
  • Develop effective working relationships with key organizational leaders, individuals, and work groups to ensure cooperation and buy-in of any process or continuous improvement efforts.
  • Become proficient at the following department duties: Realization of Estimated Costs, aid in fixture and template design, contract reviews, provide technical support to one or more of the following - Fabrication, Machining and/or Welding
Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Industrial Engineering or related field; or equivalent combination of education, related experience, and training.
  • Three to five years experience in a manufacturing environment involving metal fabrication, machining, welding, and assembly.
  • Experience which demonstrates working knowledge of drawing interpretation; e.g., orthographic projection and tolerancing.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing engineering techniques and lean concepts.
