HPC Fire Inspired is seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to design, plan, and deliver manufacturing system solutions that reduce cost and increase throughput.

You will collaborate with sales, finance, engineering, and operations to develop products with performance and manufacturability in mind, researching trends and integrating proven technology into the facility. You must be hands-on, able to design, build and test fixtures and gauges.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required with 5+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software and ERP systems is required.
  • Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving tools.

Responsibilities

  • Set processes, train, and create standard work and tools for the team.
  • Process map end-to-end processes and identify non-value adds and quality issues.
  • Identify automation, fixturing, and gauges to improve capacity and reduce costs.
  • Lead automation opportunities with manufacturing engineering.
  • Develop and support lean manufacturing principles within the site.
  • Utilize DMAIC, 8D, Fishbone and other process improvement methods.
  • Lead projects, analyze losses, and implement control plans using lean tools.
  • Conduct data collection and analysis to identify improvements.
  • Optimize facility layouts using lean cell design techniques.
  • Ensure equipment is utilized through Continuous Improvement and Lean practices.

Job description

HPC Fire Inspired consistently provides innovative, cost efficient, and safe outdoor living solutions to our customers. In this Advanced Manufacturing Engineer position with your knowledge of manufacturing engineering fundamentals, you should help and drive the HPC Team to deliver products that exceed the expectations of our customers. Your role will be responsible for designing, planning, and delivering manufacturing system solutions that optimize cost, capital investment, and produce consistent quality products while maximizing throughput. You will also work collaboratively with sales, finance, engineering, and operations to help design and develop products that are designed for both performance and manufacturability. You will research and monitor advanced manufacturing technology trends and appropriately integrate proven technology solutions into our manufacturing facility.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Set the process, train, and create standard work and tools / displays for the team to use.
  • Process map end to end processes, identify source of non-value add activities and cost of poor quality.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, fixturing, and gauges to remove waste, increased capacity, improved efficiency, improved logistics, reduced labor & total OCOGS costs and reduced complexities.
  • Identify together with manufacturing engineering automation opportunities.
  • Develop and support Lean manufacturing engineering principles within the site.
  • Utilize various tools to solve manufacturing problems including, but not limited to: DMAIC, 8D, Fish Bone Diagrams, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Lead projects and analyze losses and develop solutions and control plans using lean tools such as 5S, 5W, bottleneck analysis, Gemba, Kaizen events, Kanban, Poke Yoke, Value Stream Mapping, Visual Factory, Standardized work, Takt-time, Statistical tools, Control charts, Pareto's, Design Of Experiments, etc.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis including data collection and analysis to identify and implement improvements for processes and projects.
  • Facility layout optimization optimizing and leveraging lean cell design techniques.
  • Ensure the effective utilization of manufacturing plant equipment through the application of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles to drive a sustainable manufacturing culture of change.
  • Maintain broad knowledge of product design, manufacturing, and assembly techniques.
  • Must be a hands-on person with the ability to design, build and test fixtures and gauges.

Skills/Knowledge and Experience:

  • Six (4+2) year Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required and 5+ years of relevant experience within a manufacturing servicing and assembly shop environment.
  • Experience with 3D CAD Software is required.
  • Experience with ERP systems.
  • Advanced Working knowledge of process improvements and manufacturing industry best practice.
  • Solid understanding of advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is required.
  • Advanced Working knowledge and ability to develop workflows and lean processes is required.
  • Advanced Knowledge of manufacturing engineering policies, principles, and procedures is required.
  • Advanced Knowledge of Manufacturing techniques.
  • Knowledge of Lean Problem-Solving Tools and resources is required.
  • Advanced customer and safety focus skills.
  • Advanced skills in negotiation and influencing ability.
  • Advanced Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced planning and organizational skills.
  • Advanced ability to facilitate and coordinate a team working environment.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Working Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing tools / certifications is required.
  • Experience and knowledge of ISO standards is required.
  • Familiarization with CSA standards and requirements.
  • Professional working proficiency in Hindi or Mandarin is required.
This position is not remote, it requires you to be onsite daily.
