Job summary

Abbott in St. Paul, MN is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support growth in a medical device manufacturing environment. 100% on-site for an 11-month assignment.

You will drive process improvements, optimize space, support new product introductions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, DMAIC. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, quality, and lead times while ensuring FDA/OSHA/QMS compliance.

Qualifications

  • Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects for new equipment, process improvements, and product introductions.
  • Optimize space, layout, material storage, and flow.
  • Support new product launches by planning equipment and staffing needs.
  • Drive Lean initiatives and kaizen events (5S, value stream mapping).
  • Lead CAPA, Six Sigma, and DMAIC improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, quality and lead times.
  • Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, QMS, EMS and company requirements.

Title: Manufacturing Engineer


Location: St. Paul, MN


Duration: 11 Month


100% On-Site


Job Summary:


Support manufacturing growth by driving process improvements, optimizing space utilization, improving material flow, supporting new product introductions, and leading continuous improvement initiatives within a medical device manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities:



  • Lead projects involving new equipment, process improvements, cost reduction, and new product introductions.

  • Optimize manufacturing space, facility layout, material storage, and material flow.

  • Support new product launches by determining equipment, staffing, storage, and space requirements.

  • Drive Lean initiatives using 5S, value stream mapping, process mapping, time studies, capacity modeling, and Kaizen events.

  • Lead RCPS, CAPA, Lean Six Sigma, and DMAIC improvement projects.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve productivity, quality, efficiency, standardization, and lead times.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA, OSHA, QMS, EMS, and company requirements.


Required Qualification:



  • Engineering, Technical degree, or equivalent experience.

  • 3-5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.


Preferred Qualification:



  • Medical device manufacturing experience.

  • Medical device capital equipment experience.

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, DMAIC, 5S, and CAPA methodologies.
