Manufacturing Engineer

Defense Manufacturing | Teamcenter & MRP

Lansing, MI

$45.00 - $57.00/Hourly

We are hiring a Manufacturing Engineer in Lansing, MI, to support defense manufacturing operations, production process development, and complex assembly and installation activities.

This role supports manufacturing engineering, MBOM development, detailed work instructions, Teamcenter, MRP planning, CAD design reviews, tooling and equipment recommendations, engineering changes, and collaboration between engineering and manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities
  • Define and control manufacturing and production processes, including sequence of operations, workflow, and detailed methodologies for complex assemblies and installations.
  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions, procedures, and manufacturing process documentation.
  • Develop Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs) and support MRP planning related to MBOM structure and development.
  • Recommend tooling and equipment required to support efficient product manufacturing.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings, design specifications, documentation, CAD models, and test results for manufacturing applications.
  • Evaluate design release activities and engineering changes to determine impacts to MBOMs and manufacturing processes.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering and manufacturing operations to support production requirements.
  • Document manufacturing procedures, process qualifications, and related technical information.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, engineering, and senior leadership on major manufacturing projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience.
  • General understanding of Teamcenter and MRP planning.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing engineering concepts, principles, technical standards, and production processes.
  • Ability to review engineering designs in a CAD system, including interrogation of models and drawings.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, design specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based PC systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
  • Ability to identify manufacturing problems, analyze relevant information, and develop timely solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Must successfully meet company requirements for background checks, employment verification, reference checks, physical examination, and controlled substance testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain suitability requirements for access to classified information.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with U.S. defense contracts and associated requirements.
  • Experience supporting Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) audits.
  • Previous manufacturing plant experience.
  • Considerable knowledge of manufacturing capabilities and production operations.
