Job summary

3M Hutchinson is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join a fast-paced, high-impact environment with diverse products and processes. You will support EHS improvements, lead value stream projects, and drive safety, quality, and cost improvements across manufacturing lines.

The role requires a engineering STEM degree and 2 years of related experience, with opportunities to lead cross-functional teams and work on new product introductions. This position is based in Hutchinson, MN.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or other manufacturing STEM degree.
  • Two (2) years experience in Product, Process, Quality, and/or Manufacturing Engineering in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Additional qualifications include degrees in Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing Engineering and 5 years experience.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts and methods is a plus.

  • Actively supporting EHS improvements.
  • Leading value stream improvement projects.
  • Driving improvements in safety, quality, service, and cost for manufacturing lines and associated products.
  • Support rapid resolution of customer complaints, including timely response, and implementation and communication of corrective actions.
  • Provide daily production support and troubleshooting for assigned products and manufacturing operations, including occasional availability on nights and weekends as needed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to launch new product introduction.
  • Improve manufacturing operations using continuous improvement and project management tools.
Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or other manufacturing STEM degree (completed and verified prior to start).
  • Two (2) years experience in Product, Process, Quality, and/or Manufacturing Engineering in a private, public, government or military environment (internships included).

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited university.
  • Five (5) Years experience in Manufacturing Engineering roles.
  • Experience with processes that involve film/web handling.
  • Proficiency in the use of statistical tools and data analysis in problem solving.
  • Experience in applying lean manufacturing concepts and methodologies to manufacturing.
  • Leadership with driving quality improvement and cost reduction project.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.
