Job summary

Radial Solutions Inc. in Huntsville, AL seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to support the NASA METTS contract, developing and improving manufacturing processes and equipment.

You will work with production, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and drive sustainable process improvements. The role may require overtime and second or third shift support to meet contract needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, mathematics, or similar.
• Equivalent of a BS with approximately 5 years’ experience (Engineer II).
• Equivalent of a BS with approximately 10 years' experience (Engineer III).

Responsibilities

• Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Identifies opportunities to improve products or reduce costs.
• Determines root causes of failures and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
• Incorporates new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
• Supervises technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, or other engineers.
• Troubleshoots new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
• Reviews product designs for manufacturability or completeness.
• Trains production personnel in new or existing methods.
• Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes.
• Designs, installs, or troubleshoots manufacturing equipment.
• Ability to interface with customers/teammates at all levels.

RSi is looking to fill a Manufacturing Engineer position to support our NASAcustomer on the Marshall Engineering Technicians and Trades Support contract (METTS). This position will support developing, improving, and supporting manufacturing processes/systems, equipment, and methods to increase efficiency, quality, safety, and cost effectiveness. This role works closely with production/machine shop, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and implement sustainable process improvements.

This position may require occasional overtime and may include second or third shift support for 24/7 onsite or on-call support based on customer needs and contract requirements.

Summary of duties include but are not limited to:

Required Minimum Education/Experience/Certifications:

• Machine Shop/Midsize manufacturing/production
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, mathematics, or similar.
• Equivalent of a BS with approximately 5 years’ experience (Engineer II)
• Equivalent of a BS with approximately 10 years' experience (Engineer III)

Preferred Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/IT Skills/Certifications:

• Manufacturing process improvement

Physical Environment/Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Must be able to pass a MSFC physical examination for any required safety-related certifications.
• All positions supporting the METTS III contract require successful completion of NASA medical screenings at the beginning of employment and annually thereafter. The need for these screenings is determined based on the outcomes of the Safety, Health, and Environmental Job Assessment Questionnaire.
• Must adhere to MSFC and OSHA safety requirements, including use of appropriate PPE when necessary and follow written technical procedures.
• May require walking, bending, climbing stairs, and navigating shop/machine work areas
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Ability to lift up to forty pounds on an occasional basis

Other: Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issues credentials and IT access/applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.

• You will be required to provide two (2) forms of Federal I9 documents.
• You will be required to provide a REAL ID compliant identification to gain access to RSA and MSFC.
