Manufacturing Engineer – West Chester, PA (onsite)

Job Summary

A Manufacturing Engineer will leverage expertise in manufacturing methods and processes to optimize costs, enhance quality, and boost productivity. Key responsibilities include analyzing new capital equipment requirements, evaluating new product designs for manufacturability, offering technical support for engineering and process changes, and actively engaging in rapid improvement events.

Responsibilities
  • Fluent knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, machining, assembly, and quality control processes.
  • Design and coordinate standard manufacturing processes.
  • Plan or improve production methods, including flow, tooling, assembly methods, and production equipment.
  • Estimate production times and optimum staffing for production schedules.
  • Determine the development or purchase of capital equipment.
  • Interact with design, manufacturing, and suppliers.
  • Create production processes and documents through routings, bills of materials, and standard work.
  • Assist internal and external suppliers with process problems and troubleshoot to find root cause.
  • Oversee fixture design and manufacture.
  • Ensure final process is capable and stable.
  • Evaluate non‑confirming parts and provide proper disposition.
  • Lead and participate in Lean Manufacturing improvement events using all available tools and techniques.
  • Implement cost reduction ideas.
  • Ensure safety is designed into all processes and implement safety corrective actions to eliminate safety risks.
  • Develop, test, modify, and create solutions to technical problems.
  • Direct and coordinate production, operations, quality assurance, testing, or maintenance processes.
  • Create project specifications and detailed plans.
  • Utilize root‑cause tools such as 8D and 5‑Why.
  • Assess manufacturing issues related to design and tolerancing.
  • Apply engineering principles to develop robust manufacturing processes the first time.
  • Support new model launch requirements and processes to ensure flawless launch goals.
  • Demonstrate abilities in tool, fixture, and gauge design.
  • Demonstrate understanding of inspection tools, techniques, and their application to engineering requirements.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in final assembly and testing.
  • Advanced experience with engineering‑related software.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Energy and passion for delivering results in a fast‑paced, data‑driven environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Key Competencies
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Demonstrated abilities in tool, fixture, and gauge design.
  • Demonstrated understanding of inspection tools, techniques, and their application to engineering requirements.
  • Understanding of production control and demand‑pull systems highly desirable.
  • Extensive skills in CAD software, Excel, Word, Access, and Microsoft Project.
