CZM USA is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Manufacturing Engineer to support and continuously improve our advanced fabrication operations in Ellabell, Georgia. This role is central to the production of heavy structural steel components, including masts, frames, booms, Kelly bars, and related assemblies for the foundation drilling equipment.

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes across plasma cutting, press braking, robotic welding, and CNC machining — working at the intersection of engineering, automation, and lean production in a state‑of‑the‑art, purpose‑built facility.

Reports to Director of Manufacturing

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Optimization

  • Design manufacturing jigs for fabrication, welding and machining.
  • Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing process plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all fabrication operations.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across cutting, forming, welding, and machining processes to reduce cycle time, scrap, and rework.
  • Support production engineers and operators in resolving day‑to‑day technical issues and non‑conformances.
  • Establish and monitor key process parameters, tolerances, and quality checkpoints.
Manufacturing Support & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with CZM USA engineering and quality teams to support design for manufacturability (DFM) reviews and new product introductions.
  • Participate in FMEA, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action processes.
  • Support capital equipment installation and start‑up activities.
  • Maintain engineering change order (ECO) documentation and revision control in the ERP/PLM system.
  • Train production personnel on new processes, tooling, and quality requirements.
Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (recommended), or large experience with heavy metal fabrication.
  • Coursework or specialization in manufacturing processes, materials science, welding engineering, or industrial automation is a plus.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in a manufacturing or fabrication engineering role (required).
  • Direct experience with any two or more of the following: plasma cutting, press braking, robotic welding, or CNC machining in a structural steel or heavy equipment environment strongly preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent); ability to read and interpret GD&T drawings.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming.
  • Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 structural welding code and WPS/PQR fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with robotic programming environments (Yaskawa MotoSim, OTC DTPS, or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement methodologies.

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a practical, hands‑on orientation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across engineering, production, and quality teams.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, growing environment.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment on an active production floor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the heavy fabrication industries.
  • Experience with welding cell commissioning or integration projects.
  • Knowledge of plate processing, material handling, and vertical storage systems for heavy steel.
Working Conditions
  • Full‑time, on‑site position at our Ellabell, Georgia manufacturing facility.
  • Regular exposure to a heavy industrial environment including plasma cutting, welding, and CNC machining operations.
  • PPE required at all times on the production floor (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel‑toed boots).
  • Occasional travel to CZM fabrication facility in Italy and/or Brazil.
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and observed holidays.
