Job summary

ISC is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and maintain manufacturing processes for cable assemblies and wire harnesses. You will partner with Production, Quality, and Engineering to troubleshoot issues and implement practical improvements for cost, quality, and throughput.

The role is hands-on, focusing on production support, tooling, automation, and process optimization to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing of high-quality products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years in manufacturing engineering with complex assemblies.
  • Experience developing and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, BOMs and specs.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and documentation.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to Production and troubleshoot issues.
  • Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes for cables and harnesses.
  • Analyze processes to improve quality, yield, efficiency, and cost.
  • Investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, routings, and process docs.
  • Review drawings and specs to ensure manufacturability.
  • Evaluate tooling, fixtures, and automation for safety and efficiency.
  • Support process validation and qualification activities.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering on defects and CAPA.
  • Lead or support Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S initiatives.
  • Analyze data for waste reduction and capacity gains.
  • Assist design-for-manufacturability discussions with Engineering.

Job Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes for complex cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and related products. This role partners closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and ensure processes consistently meet quality, cost, efficiency, and delivery requirements.

This is a highly hands-on role focused on production support, process improvement, automation, tooling, and manufacturing process optimization. The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with production teams to identify opportunities, resolve process issues, and implement practical, sustainable improvements. This role serves as a key technical partner to Production, helping ensure existing products can be manufactured safely, efficiently, consistently, and at the required quality and cost.

What You'll Do:
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to Production, troubleshooting process, equipment, tooling, and manufacturing issues and implementing practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Develop, document, and improve manufacturing processes for cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and related products.
  • Analyze existing manufacturing processes andidentifyopportunities to improve quality, yield, efficiency, throughput, safety, and cost.
  • Work directly with Production teams to investigate manufacturing issues,identifyroot causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Create andmaintainmanufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, routings, and other production documentation.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and other technical documentation to ensure products can be manufactured effectively and consistently.
  • Evaluate and support the implementation of tooling, fixtures, equipment, and automation improvements to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and production capacity.
  • Support process validation and qualification activities for existing and modified manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with Quality Engineering to investigate defects, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Analyze manufacturing data, metrics, and trends toidentifyopportunities for process improvement, waste reduction, and increased production efficiency.
  • Work with Engineering and Production to evaluate design-for-manufacturability considerations andidentifyopportunities to improvemanufacturabilityof existing products.
  • Support engineering changes and ensure manufacturing processes, documentation, BOMs, routings, and other production information are updated accordingly.
  • Train and support production personnel on new or updated processes, work instructions, tooling, and equipment.
  • Work with ERP/MRP systems tomaintainaccuratemanufacturing information,routings, BOMs, and other production data.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment for safety and ergonomic risks and support improvements that promote safe and effective production.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and other initiatives as needed.
Must-Have Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in an environment involving complex assemblies, electromechanical products, cable assemblies, wire harnesses, orsimilar products.
  • Experience developing, documenting, troubleshooting, and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot manufacturing problems,identifyroot causes, and implement practical, sustainable solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and other technical documentation.
  • Experience working directly with Production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong communicationand cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Bonus Points If You Have:
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with cable assemblies, wire harnesses, connectors,overmolding, or electromechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with automation, equipment development, tooling, or fixture design/implementation.
  • Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, or process capability studies.
  • Experience with FAI/FAI documentation and AS9102.
  • Experience with CAD software.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or formal Lean training.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as M3 or similar platforms.
Compensation Range:

$95,000 - $115,000/year + bonus
