Job summary

About the role: We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join the magniX Team, which is responsible for the production of our Electric Powertrain products, including Energy Storage Solutions, Power Electronics, and Motors. The Manufacturing Engineer will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing our production processes, designing tooling, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining accurate records within our ERP system. This role owns manufacturing process development, production documentation, and ERP manufacturing data. This role spans both ends of the production ramp: supporting first-article and low-rate initial production builds and industrializing those products toward higher-volume rate production. The successful candidate will work across motor, power electronics, and energy storage product lines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement manufacturing processes, process flow diagrams, documentation, and tooling to produce aerospace powertrain components.
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize assemblies and part designs for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/A).
• Estimate cycle times, labor content, and rough-order-of-magnitude (ROM) process and tooling costs to support program planning, capacity modeling, and make/buy decisions.
• Design simple assembly fixtures and process aids in CAD, and define requirements for more complex tooling executed by the Tool Design Engineer.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase yield, reduce cycle times, and lower production costs.
• Industrialize processes as production rates increase, including line balancing, takt time, work center definition, standard work, and capacity planning.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for manufacturing issues.
• Support the development of new powertrain technologies and products through New Product Introduction (NPI), from prototype build through rate production.
• Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and improve processes.
• Work hands-on with assembly technicians on the shop floor during first builds to validate work instructions, build sequence, and tooling.
• Manage manufacturing bills of materials and item master data in the ERP system.
• Create manufacturing planning, work orders, and job routers/travelers.
• Support production readiness reviews and implementation of engineering changes on the shop floor.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and quality standards and regulations, including AS9100 and applicable FAA requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or similar engineering discipline
• 3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
• Demonstrated experience authoring production work instructions, work orders, or job travelers for assembled hardware
• Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies for electric motors, power electronics, and/or li-ion batteries
• Experience with process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing)
• Experience developing manufacturing processes in a New Product Introduction (NPI) or low-rate initial production environment, and scaling those processes to higher-volume rate production
• Knowledge of SAP, Odoo, or other similar ERP/MES systems
• Working knowledge of high-voltage safety practices and li-ion battery handling requirements.
• Familiarity with FAA regulatory environments

Salary Range:$100,000 – $135,000
