Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement and cost savings projects.
  • Lead and support new equipment and manufacturing process design and implementation.
  • Perform equipment validation and documentation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for manufacturing processes, systems, product development and other technical processes.
  • Create and maintain PFMEA, Work Instructions and related documentation.
  • Develop best practices to improve production rate and quality (scrap, cycle time, downtime, FPY, OEE).
  • Design and maintain lean procedures for molding and stamping areas.
  • Determine spare parts inventory and preventive maintenance for new equipment.
  • Gather data from production lines to support decision making and prioritization.
  • Support quality initiatives and develop measures to improve quality.
  • Support development and review of Control Plans.
  • Assist in manufacturing workflow, line layouts and floor plans.
  • Document standard work and ensure adherence; monitor process parameters.

Job description

Are you a Manufacturing Engineer that thrives on process improvement?

In this impactful role, you will develop and improve effective manufacturing processes, in line with the our client's strategic planning, quality policy and the quality management system, including, defect prevention, inspection, process control and all regulatory activities such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949. You will also be instrumental in productivity improvements within operations, as well as new product launch support. Additionally you will take ownership of the following:

  • Drive and create continuous improvement / cost savings projects
  • Lead and support new equipment and new manufacturing process designs and implementation
  • Perform new equipment and/or tooling validation and documentation
  • Develop, prepare and/or maintain documentation pertaining to manufacturing processes, systems operation, product development and other technical processes
  • Responsible for Process Flow, PFMEA, and Work Instruction document creation and maintenance
  • Develops and drives implementation of best practices, routines, and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output. Scope includes but is not limited to scrap reduction, cycle time reduction, downtime reduction, FPY increase, OEE increase, 0km and warranty ppm reduction, etc.
  • Design, implement and maintain procedures relating to efficient manufacturing practices for molding and stamping areas, with a focus toward Lean initiatives.
  • Determine necessary spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance plan for new equipment
  • Gather and collect data from production lines to aid in decision making and process improvement effort prioritization
  • Research, review, and collect available technical information as a basis for documentation
  • Support quality initiatives and work with team to develop the necessary measures to improve quality
  • Support development and review of Control Plans
  • Assist in the development of manufacturing work flow, line layouts, or floor plans
  • Document procedures and ensures standard work is being followed
  • Track process parameters and ensures standard work is up to date and being followed
Requirements include:
  • Good understanding of drawing requirements and bills of material, ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Strong PC and communication skills, to include spoken, written and presentation skills
  • Strong structured problem solving skills and critical thinking capability
  • Strong accuracy with attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Project management expertise
  • College graduate with Bachelor’s degree required, with Engineering or Business degrees preferred.
  • Experience assessing, selecting and implementing industrial equipment
  • Experience leading implementation of complex manufacturing equipment
  • Experience with automation equipment preferred
  • Good mix of commercial and leadership skills as well as ability to communicate easily at both the technical and non-technical level.
  • Demonstrated record of building and maintaining effective working relationships with vendors, peers, subordinates and management
