Job summary

AMERICAN NTN BEARING MANUFACTURING in Elgin, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to maintain, improve, and streamline production equipment. This hands-on role requires mechanical aptitude and modern computer skills to support line efficiency and equipment reliability.

You will work with production technicians and other departments to troubleshoot issues, install and retire line equipment, and implement improvements across high-volume manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Ability to read/write mechanical drawings with GD&T.
  • Proficient with hand/power tools and precision measurement.
  • Experience in C++, CNC programming/CAM preferred.
  • 2D/3D CAD experience; SolidWorks a plus.
  • Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Metalworking and automation knowledge beneficial.
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide long term solutions to production issues using data analysis, prototyping, and trial/error.
  • Assist with new line equipment installation and removal/disposal.
  • Collaborate with technicians and other departments to resolve equipment issues.
  • Troubleshoot automated production machinery and identify root causes.
  • Assist with high skill machine repairs with engineers and technicians.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for repairs outside internal scope.
  • Assist with projects and simple design/implementation tasks.
  • Understand and modify detailed equipment layouts.
  • Manage priorities and multi-task efficiently.
  • Create training documents for new/revised processes.
  • Learn line processes with Changeover group.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Summary:

Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for maintaining, improving, and streamlining output of production equipment in their areas as well as installing and disposing of equipment. This is a hands-on Engineering job that requires mechanical aptitude in addition to requiring modern computer skills.

Starting Wage:

$80,000 to $100,00

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. At ANBM, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide long term solutions to production issues by using data driven analysis, prototyping, and trial and error analysis
  • Assist with new line equipment installation and equipment removal/disposal
  • Work alongside production technicians, electricians and other various departments to jointly resolve equipment issues
  • Troubleshoot automated production machinery, identify root cause for trouble and repair as necessary
  • Assist in performing high skill machine repairs with other engineers and technicians
  • Communicate with and utilize external vendor services for machine repairs when scope of work is outside of internal capabilities
  • Assist with assigned projects and perform simple design and implementation tasks
  • Understand and modify detailed layouts of equipment
  • Must be able to manage priorities and multi-task efficiently
  • Create training documents for new and revised processes
  • Train with Type Change (machine setup) group to learn the different processes of line equipment
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering OR five years working in a manufacturing facility as a technician under engineering supervision
  • Able to read and write mechanical drawings with understanding of GD&T
  • Proficient in using hand/power tools along with precise measurement equipment such as micrometers and dial indicators
  • Understanding of programming languages such as C++, CNC programming / CAM, experience preferred
  • Experience in 2D/3D CAD; knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be an effective communicator with sufficient oral and electronic presentation skills
  • Metalworking knowledge is a plus, especially CNC Turning and Grinding
  • Experience in automation or high volume manufacturing is highly beneficial
  • Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Must follow OSHA safety and environmental guidelines at all times
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus, especially Japanese
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Hard hats, steel toe safety shoes, and safety glasses are required in all production areas. Hearing protection is encouraged and may be required in specific areas.
